Really he said that in a video? That's nuts. You drive without insurance in my state of PA you lose your license not just get a ticket.
How much do you spent ($$$) each day on the road?

During the past six weeks that I was on the road, my daily expenses for food and drinks alone averaged nearly $8.00, or $56.00 per week. I ate good, too. I had beef stew, pulled pork, chicken breasts and legs, turkey breasts and legs, and fish (I won't do fish again, though). Plus, I had a choice of drinks (water, soda, green tea, and coffee).
I don't remember how much I paid for the slow cooker and the coffee maker, but I don't think I paid more than $75.00 for the two, combined. The Company, on the other hand, supplied the refrigerator, electricity through the APU, and the diesel fuel to power the APU. -
He said it right on here. I called him out on it, but he didn't seem to care. All that cash he likes throwing around is going to disappear if he hits someone and gets sued for damages and medical bills.

Thanks for the replies. Lots of good info.
Do any of you actually get per diems out here?
I know how they work in the staffing world- I have lots of traveler friends who do contract work and get a base salary plus daily per diem, but I'm guessing that those rules don't apply as a company OTR person...... -
My biggest expense is pornography.

Get yourself a strong inverter, 2500-3000 watts (minimum 1500), get one of those slow cookers at WalMart ($20-30), make sure you have a fridge in your truck, if not purchase a small one at WalMart ($90). Buy potatoes, chicken meat, red meat, rice, some veggies etc. and bring along.
- Chicken meat is full of protein and almost no fat. Eat all day basically.
- Potatoes are filling. Eat once and drive all day. There is a reason why peasants main entree were potatoes long time ago.
- Red meat...ehh...we're carnivores and it's in our DNA. Good for variety and goes great with potatoes.
- Veggies...for obvious reasons.
- Rice...is rice.
My food bill usually ends up being $50-70 every Saturday and that food lasts me five days until I come home again. Basically I put the stuff to cook in the morning and in 4-5 hours when my 30 min break comes, it's ready to eat. Any leftovers are put in the fridge and rewarmed in microwave the next time.
I feel better and lost some weight doing this.
Edit: you can find variety of other recipes for the slow cooker, it doesn't have to be peasant food all the time. Get yourself one of those slow cooker cook books and bada bang bada bing. -
i spend about 50 bucks a week at walmart. points for my sodas etc.
