Well I'm a veteran driver, I've taken the past year or so off and I'm currently attending uti for diesel tech. Been really missing that 2 Lane and figured I'd check to see what all has changed out there with the laws and such. I've been doing research on diesel techs, and I think I got screwed over so thinking the highway is where I belong. Any info is much appreciated.
Has anything changed in past yr

Good for you; time to hit the road where you belong!
americanmadetrucker Thanks this. -
Still considering it. Is there any new laws out since last winter?

Mostly very attractive and available younger women drivers out here now. Very little traffic and lots of easy parking 24/7. Welcome back.
Bean Jr., Bob Dobalina, Cottonmouth85 and 7 others Thank this. -
I like the fact that they fuel your truck, wash the windscreen, check the oil and bring you a nice hot meal at the fuel islands when you pull in - and the new drivers these days are so switched on and polite. Welcome back to much higher wages and freight rates !!Bean Jr., americanmadetrucker, taxihacker66 and 1 other person Thank this.

Lol I know better than believe that. But seriously what's changed? I heard that the 34hr rule is back the way it was.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Yes - they flip flopped back on the 34 reset now.
I don't know - maybe try Landline mag (online) for a few back issues - they tend to keep up on the regulatory changes pretty well.
Nothing I can think of that's earth shattering for company drivers. O/O's have a bit more to keep up with.philv Thanks this. -
UTI sucks, I went there for automotive. Diesel techs can make money. Around here the union diesel shops start apprentices at $17.50 they get raises every year for 5 years, until they hit $32 an hour. My dad is going to be retiring with a nice pension next year.Last edited: Mar 6, 2016
Toomanybikes, superflow and philv Thank this. -
E-logs will be mandatory in 2 years. Even though its not required by fmcsa you can expect to be tested for sleep apnea if overweight and going with a mega.
