Personally I don't see how the lower speed limit for trucks helps in separating heavy vehicles from light ones. When I drove through Oregon at 55mph, cars would slow down to pull in front, so it seems they want to go just fast enough relative to my speed to enforce murphy's law rather than do their speed limit. The other day I was experimenting, lowering my speed relative to those passing, and had to go 1/2 of my speed limit with hazards flashing for them to pass at a reasonably safe distance.

Having the same speed limit would at least allow me to avoid more of this, rather than everyone on the road catching up to pull a self-defeating slam dunk on me, it's obvious when they come up in a tailgating pack from a mile away, only to disperse as they pass, that I was their target, goal post, whatever. They should think of me as a rock slide, and somehow I guess they'd be the first drive under one.

I was chatting with OSP officer in Ontario OR on Friday. he said people are still speeding just at a higher speed.

Well that's how it works, but the fact is the original speeds were unreasonable. I once took a load down US 95, it cuts from 65 in Idaho to 55 in Oregon, 55 for a flat straight well shouldered highway in the middle of the desert, then picks up to 70 after the Nevada state line. That makes no sense
