What is a Steering Wheel Holder?!

I passed a tanker the other day with a piece of plastic film vice gripped on the back for a mudflap.

 

I remember my last load with Schneider, pick up a trailer with a missing mud flap and it was my last load and a load I could do in 1 day. Grab my tools and took one off the tractor and put it on the trailer. Drop it off the railyard, drove the truck to the shop, clean it out and done

 

I think the difference is steering wheel holders don't respect the job or much of anything to do with it. Anything else is just commentary.

 

Thinking outside the box.

 

Actualy dude, the truck does not put you in that position. Your bad choices attached to your right foot do. You could just as easily slowed down a half mph instead of jumping out in the left lane and blocking traffic for ten miles.

 

Ive had to change them on the road. It sucks. Before csa crap i would just wait to i got back home and risk the ticket.

Well what it really boils down to is people complaining for no reason. I was at a truckstop a week or so ago taking my 10 hour break and these jerks keep coming up to my truck pounding on the doors calling me all sorts of names (steering wheel holder among them). They threw threats, trash and all sorts of words, it was really shameful of them. I put in ear plugs and went back to sleep. When I woke up feeling fresh as a daisy, I climbed out of my truck, and started fueling up. Parking at the islands has its advantages you know, and late at night they're always open. I could have put some clothes on first, I think my nudity offended the driver next to me but I wanted a good bath. I used a squeegee to get most of the dirt off me and my flipflops, then hosed myself off. I finished fueling, took a leak and hopped in my truck. I pulled forward so the next guy could do his thing, then dressed and went into the store. I bought a gallon of coffee three monsters and a few donuts. Then I went into the bathroom and yelled at my phone for a while, shaved in the sink. After that I was ready to roll.

So yeah, I don't know what people's deals are. Some dudes are just jerks.

I'd bet I didnt buy more than 6 mudflaps in my 20 yrs otr. I usually could find at least one torn off by the curb in party row. while walking my dog. Even if I didnt need it right then I'd strap it to the catwalk b/c I knew for a fact that one of our worthless pos swh's would drop a trailier missing a mudflap & not report it to breakdown . I met one of our drivers at a TA shop waiting for them to put a mudflap on his trailier. He said the shop told him it'd be about 3 hrs before they could get to him . I offered him one of my spare mudflaps for free & he gave me the "I just drive the truck I dont work on it" line . We delivered to the same dc, I was on time & unloaded in 45 mins then got a 2300 mile load taking me home. He was 6 hrs late & the DC made him sit 8 hrs before they "worked him in".
He got empty late Friday night & dispatch didnt find him a load til 1900 Monday. All because he was too lazy to work 20 mins to put a mudflap on his trailier. He was one of those crybabys that didnt want a load of 200-300 miles & didnt want a load to the northeast or many other places, it had to be the perfect load. And he complained b/c he wasnt making any money
A bunch of us were stuck at a co. terminal during a slow freight period, 3-4 drivers turned down a 275 mile load which led me to a 1300 mile load. 3 days after I left the terminal & near the end of the 1300 mile load this idjit calls me to complain he was still at the terminal waiting for a "good load". I hung up on him! If I was somewhere with alot of empty trks & little freight I would take #### near any load to get moving away from the crowd, less competition for the available freight . smh
