Dude, that's people in general. While some are very intelligent and well educated, there are far more that can barely read, let alone think for themselves. As far as trucking goes, the thing that always gets me is how some guys can't figure out the difference between gross and truck pay. Especially the landstar and admiral merchant guys i seem to bump into. We got the same customers, pulling for the same rates, and for whatever reason because they are quoted gross and we are quoted truck pay, they think they are making 25 percent more than me on the same load. It's so sad it's almost funny.

Good point there - the permit deduction system so far eludes my simple mind . . . more detail later, but if the rate were permit exclusive, it would be a lot easier for those 'new ' to OS/OD.

I like the money all in so I can keep what I save, hire my own escorts and use whatever permit service I want. Choosing ones route can save permit and escort Money. Also using annuals can make money.

I've knocked 'gross pay ' out of my vocabulary now. I talk TTT - to everybody, and in my mind split it in half , concurrent with last years gross/profit split. LS takes its cut and runs - I try to get all the acc. pay possible to inflate my TTT #. The only time I mention gross - I pre empt with " Board Rate" - only because it's what I have to look at when deciding loads.

Sometimes I think it's maybe a case of guys trying to justify/inflate a load/ rate to themselves , i.e., lying to themselves till they believe it.

Second that on the annuals. That is an option for us, but i haven't bothered with it cause i just don't do enough of the od stuff. Maybe once i get a different trailer. And as much as i want an rgn, i think I'm gonna go into a low pro step. More versatile while i learn. Baby steps.

If you are going to need overweight permits you also need to buy a max weight tag.

    Dominick253 and blairandgretchen Thank this.

No, that is not correct, exactly. It will vary both with state, axle rating, tire size, and axle spacing in your axle groups. There are states that will give as much as 50k on a 2 axle group.

You would need to check either with your permit dept if you trust them explicitly or check with the states via their OS/OW websites.

For example, if you have 4' 7" axle spacing on a 2 axle group in AZ, the max would 46725 or so.

That's an '01 250 I bought in '03 to get started motorcycling. 710 miles when I picked her up and I was the third owner; the first didn't want to ride after all and the second just learned and sold. I still have her and she hasn't let me down yet, despite some 'dark years' of serious neglect/abuse. Not a long-range bike, but she'll keep up with two-lane traffic and return 60+mpg doing it!
