Why do people needlessly idle ?

Just for clarity he is a mechanic not a truck driver.

If you have ever been to northern Albert or northern Saskatchewan you would know how desolate it is.

That 27 miles he's talking about is a gravel or dirt road that takes you back to a paved road and then it could be another hour or two to some town that has no emergency services .
Cell phone coverage up there is crap.

 

Why would a truck be so far out in the middle of nowhere with Noone around ? I dont know where you deliver to but I do Edmonton Calgary Edson I drive thru Jasper National Park and there is always someone around but stick to your argument I respect it.

 

This is where ALOT of flatbed and open deck end up for a drop.

Well its not just me there are states with idling laws so maybe there's a few people that don't see the need and why because I give my opinion do I need to leave the country or not be a driver ?,The oversize loads I haul the places I go most the drivers in here are not qualified to judge me and less then half have a good enough record to do my job your little baby trucks don't impress me and it is my buisness when I have had to deal with a 130ft load and escort cars all day and your needless idling is disturbing my peace.

 

You have no #### clue about my business and what it takes to be successful. Believing you do is what's stupid

 

I can't argue with picture proof you got me you win I give you the ok to idle so your not stuck out where ever that is peace driver peace I am answered.

Even if it's 45 outside, it's still cold inside. I sleep without the bunk heater and I wake up freezing even if it's 45.

Your body heat doesn't stay put btw. So I would turn the truck on for a hour and go back to sleep.

 

Well if you feel like walking 50 kilometers back to the main road and another 50 or so until you get cell service, be my guest. Like I said in my 2nd post, it could be -45C and the wind blowing. Much of the time there is no one around for many miles.

 

Agree that theres lots of stuff around Edmonton, Calgary or lots of traffic on the TransCanada.
But there's lots of stuff North of Edmonton where they are doing mining exploration .

Sometimes machines and supplys and stuff need to be delivered to remote mines.
Been to northern AB and northern SK and your out in the middle of no where delivering equipment.
