2015 VNL780 D13 Ishift 180,000 miles has intermittent starting issues, when you turn the key nothing happens. Truck goes through it's normal pre start routine fine and then nothing, sometimes after 10-15 attempts it will start other times you have to jump the solenoid. Starter and solenoid are new, batteries, fuses, relays and wiring all check out good and no codes not even when it won't start, Any Thoughts. Thx.

    Farah2017 Thanks this.

It could be the beginning of a faulty ignition switch.

Was a rebuilt starter put on when starter was replaced, many overseas rebuilds are bad.

Does it show neutral secure not detected on the dash when this happens?

Those new parts put on are just referbushed parts. Im going to say either the wires got loose over time and it cant fire. Or the parts went bad. I would check the wires if that doesnt work id replace it. And take care of that possibility

Check to see if you have a "Quick disconnect" switch for the batteries. Its a lever thats between the battery box and the engine. These can develop a short and cause starting issues.

Also you could have a bad starter solenoid.
Make sure all your batteries are good also.

I have the same truck with same issue. It has failed to start 3 times in past 2 months. It indicated trans in nuetral and went through the prestart checks but no crank. Once I got it to start by pressing on the brake pedal. The next time it wouldnt crank pressing the brake did not help, but got it to crank by turning off the battery disconnect switch for a few minutes. The last time it failed to crank niether of above would work and it got towed into volvo after they put a new starter and solenoid in it and it still wouldn't crank. Shop calls monday saying they can not get it to duplicate a no crank and no active codes. I pick it up and it doesnt get shut off till I get home. It goes in to dealer where purchased and they refashed the ecm and it hasnt acted up since.
