the Wally near my home is an outside carrier serviced d/c, and Ashley is nowhere near where I live.

I understand where your last bit of advise is coming from, but it is the #### storm life has been dumping on me for a very long time that has made me so negative. I use to be positive, easy going, go with the flow, let it roll off your back and keep smiling. But after you get the crap kicked out of you day after day, year after year...the positive vanishes. I use to joke around on here a lot. My way of dealing with it, and to those that have been readers of my posts for long time, how many can remember the last really humerous thing I have posted?

Please, don't mistake my disappointment in how it is going here for hatred or even anger. I just had such high hopes that things would be somewhat close to what I read about things here, and for me, they're not even in the same zip code. About the most positive thing I can say about my experiences here so far is, the truck hasn't broke down...yet. But I told my wife yesterday that I was glad I was going to miss the white stuff this trip, then I went thru the VA and WV mountains, and in spots the squalls were so heavy you couldn't see the hood...so karma in in league with Ma' Nature. So since I said my truck is dependable, karma is getting out her toolbox as we speak.

From a former Magnum driver, I recently left in January for a regional job close to the house. From the experience I had at Magnum they are a great! Company. The only reason I left was to get home every weekend but these regional companies call weekend at home a 34hr reset. If you blink twice you might forget that you were even home for the weekend. I'm seriously thinking about coming back! Magnum worked out for good for a lot of reasons, 1 being the equipment, the non-micromanage, friendly Dispatcher and the overall laid back company feeling. For the year that I stay with magnum I would consider myself a part time driver. The flexible hometime was the biggest reason!!!. When I first started after training I stay out 3 week and went home for 6-7 days no problem at all from them. Granted one of my paycheck was low bUT I knew it would be and was ok with it. After my grandma got sick I switched to every other weekend for 4 days home. Not a problem again. Why I left I don't know. Thought the grass was greener, but it's not trust me. The fiance and I are talking it over so we shall see. I really miss Magnum as a whole.

Unless your stuff has no dust in it they will wash it out, u have to check in at the truck wash first. One time I swept the heck out of mine and threw a gallon of water in the back, got there and told them I just had it washed out, they bought it.

I have just one thing to add. If the majority of Magnum drivers are satisified, why do I read so many post's from people saying they are headed to orientation? Is Magnum expanding that rapidly that they need all these new drivers? Or are they that strict and that many drivers are being terminated, and these new hires are replacing them? Just curious.

Don't people always believe the grass is greener on the other side of the fence?

I in no way think Magnum is perfect. Every place will have issues. It's a good fit for me at this time, and the miles are good.

Can I get to thinking it's better elsewhere? Of course.

Do some companies pay better? Of course.

    Am I micro-managed? Heck no!

Nobody wants you to leave, just leave a bit of the negativity...I personally wished you well, did you simply say thank you, no you went on a diatribe...

Like all companies there are things that fit for some and not for others, I personally don't think you did your homework before coming here or you would have known what the insurance rates were and have a better understanding of your earning potential. Having said that, I'm sorry it didn't work for you and still wish you well in the next place.

Are we like Prime, well yes and no, actually lots of people like Prime so it must be good for some right? Or pay scale is high but not the highest, hey we take rookies and I hope your next home does not, that would let you maximize the payout for your experience. You won't get rich here and typical miles are 2000-2500 for those reading. Yeah after 6 months you might do slightly better and some of us have posted our earnings in the thread so take a look.

Good luck SSB, hopefully if I come across you when you leave you'll be raving about how great your new gig is.

When I started about 20 months ago, Magnum had about 160 drivers. I think we are up to about 200 or a few more now. That's the OTR numbers. Many more LTL and dedicated trucks too. So they are increasing the fleet. Only a few each orientation. Takes awhile to build the numbers...
Some drivers leave for local jobs or regional jobs...more home time ect...
Some like SSB are unhappy. Just hang around the drivers lounge on a 34 and you are sure to meet a couple.
One thing is Magnum doesn't hold your hand. You either figure it out or you don't. I was lucky to ride with a trainer. But if your experienced and come aboard, be sure to collect a few phone numbers... Cause your gonna have questions! Stay connected here too. Great place to ask questions...
