They keep hiring because it keeps the office staff busy. They do not want to lay off any salaried workers with cushy office jobs.
They can't keep drivers busy because they are running a seasonal business. Most of the mega-crap customers are retail business. Retail business surge some 30-40% during the holiday season. Retail trucking surges twice that since each retail item hits a truck at least twice in the big box store business model. After the retail surge is over they start firing and starving out drivers to avoid laying them off and paying unemployment like honest businesses do.pattyj Thanks this. -
Sad for the drivers in today's industry.Toomanybikes Thanks this.

Does Abilene have terminals in California and do they run in California and west coast? Thanks!

They share a terminal in Southern California... We have some drivers out there that run that area and feed us loads to come back east.

Exactly, should be making 1200 guaranteed a week as a truck driver, the industry is 50,000 drivers short. People settling for 800 a week are morons....
-
Gotta start somewhere. Not many outfits offer grads $2k a week.

Your not gonna like this! I sat stay there for at least another 2 months. Jumping ship with 4 months experience. Puts you in same boat as the guy with no experiance. At 6 months doors START to open. At 12 months sky is the limit. I don' no who it is. But you need to go into office and talk to eight person. There is no reason your not compla9onibg about them working you like a dog
