So I've just about got everything done as far as my own authority and have a few friends at Freymiller (few company drivers and one L/P who is in the process of doing his own authority.) Does anyone here work for or has ever pulled for them using your own authority? We will be coming in as a team and just wanted to find out what we may average? I've also heard that they can keep us running like we like to run (East to West and back) and that they have plenty of good paying freight. If anyone can tell me your experience with them, I'd appreciate it!
Freymiller and own authority...

I saw there ad recently for O/Os with there own authority. Rate looked kind of low but then when I got to the requirements part with the qualcomm that's when I said ill pass.

Derailed might have something to think about, NJLady, the costs you'd be paying for pulling Freymiller's loads. Is it mostly reefer pulling? Food service companies are often not fun to work with. Then $80/month for QC, $30 for scanning privileges (!) insurances, what about tires and PM's, add in your plates and all, maybe you could consider finding your own loads for a while, until you get solid with a few good customers? Or even brokers?
No matter what, best for your future. 76% pulling their trailers, 82% if you buy one, is a pretty strong starting point, I think.NJ LADYTRUCKER Thanks this. -
You getting your own authority, but want to pull exclusively for one company and are required to have a QC unit installed? Why go through the hassle of getting your own authority then? What am I missing here?

Way too much cut for them at 76%. Just as bad at 82% with your own trl. I do have some knowledge of this program. Had a driver threatening to quit about 5 years ago when freight was slower. Said he was a "west coast runner" so to keep from losing him I farmed him out to Freymiller for a while. They had plenty long haul freight and they ran him pretty good (3000mpw). Pretty soon though he was complaining about being dispatched on things he couldn't log, being QC'd while he was sleeping reminding him he had an appointment to keep, that kind of stuff. And I was complaining about a steady diet of frozen, heavy loads that were late when they got dispatched and still expected to be run, loads into Fl. that didnt pay real well to begin with backed up by orange juice loads to Ok. that paid fuel money, etc. By the way you also pay for reefer fuel for THEIR trailer if they haven't changed it. Isn't this starting to look really sweet for them and not much for you at this point? Before you ask, they were a paradise compared to the same program at Prime.
Be careful about equating what your friends are doing with what you'll be doing. They are on mileage and you will be on %. If I were strictly about business, here's what I would do. I would do my best to feed you heavy loads(more fuel), deep frozen(more reefer fuel), Florida(dead area), northeast(tolls), toll roads, long delay shippers and receivers, lower rate high volume contract work, etc, as a way of shifting my less than desirable obligations onto somebody else. I still get my cut while foisting my headache freight onto you, see?
Just some thinking from the other side of the desk. Good luck and always consider everyone else's agenda as it pertains to you, Ok?
