Go ahead, travel down the road with him . . . good luck with that.

Snuff out the small operations? Any outfit that will be snuffed out over the cost of installing an elog deserves to be snuffed out. The jj keller device is 300 bucks with a 3 dollar a month service fee. And woke i hate spending money on anything that isn't necessary, if that tidbit cost would put me under, that means I'm pulling some really cheap freight and driving rates down.

Um if you think cost and bottom line is why I'm against them, then you and I are very far apart in our thinking. ELD's have nothing to do with safety. If you like them, by all means use one, but don't force it on me.

Hey man, I'm not saying i like them. I said i don't think for a minute they are about snuffing out the little guys. If a person is following the hos regulations then an eobr will have absolutely zero effect on his operation.

That leads into the real issue. Eobr's are not the problem. The problem is the current hos regulations. Specifically the ridiculous inflexibility of the 14 hour rule.

This is a perfect example of why i think ooida is a joke. They waste their resources fighting eobr's, which do nothing but keep you from breaking hos regulations. So to everyone outside the industry (especially the general public and advocacy groups such as mothers against tired truckers, whom have a ton of political power) this makes us all look like a bunch of criminals popping pills to keep our eyes open as we run two log books. Instead, they should be working with these groups to come up with hos regulations that have the flexibility to let us do or jobs safely.

OK with the way you're contradicting yourself it makes things tough but here goes. $300 and $3/month not including jnstallation. So if the power company tells you they're installing a new meter there meter is $300 and a service charge of $3/month that you're going to have to pay you wouldn't have a problem with it? And it has no effect other than an added cost I shouldn't have to pay.

You're against running illegal however you don't like the no flex 14 hour rule got it makes complete sense.

And then you want ooida to use their resources to band with the most psychotic anti truck group in the nation waste my membership dollars to partner with a group that doesn't want trucks on rhe road in the first place to change the HOS rules and relax them. Right that's going to work.

You will one day realize young grasshopper that all the rules and reglualtion in that little green book were made to line pockets not save the soccer mom and her kids in the mInova that pills out in fron of the truck. She's going to pull out in front of the truck and die regardless, all the gooberment wants to do is make some money off of it that's what those laws are for.

They want elogs fine go back to regulation and a 70/30 split like it used to be 70% independents 30% company problem solved I'll make money run 100 % legal and I won't worry about anything.

How the heck am i contradicting myself by stating the law makes no sense? Just because i think a law is goofy doesn't mean i don't follow it.

As for the days of regulation, ya no thanks. You seem to forget how operating authority worked in those days. It was by lanes, and for specific commodities. Want to run pipe from Houston to philly? First you have to prove the market needs another carrier to service that lane and commodity. The government officials you have to convince that the public will benefit from you being granted that authority is the country club with the reps froms the three big union outfits that already have that authority, and next Sunday for the Eagles home game he will be front row on the 50 yard line with tickets they gave him. Good luck with that. So now we are left with either trip leasing from the very same scumbags that are bribing the corrupt official to keep us from competing with them, or exclusively pulling exempt commodities to the big produce markets. That's what you want to return to? While we are at it why don't we ban cell phones and go back to getting up at the ### crack of dawn so we can spend two hours in line for the pay phone to call the produce broker only to have him say he doesn't have todays loads yet so call back in two hours.

As for your membership dues, if you don't mind them being spent on battles that have absolutely zero chance of being won, well that's your choice. There is definitely something to be said for fighting the good fight, even when that fight is hopeless.

The fact is, eobr's are here. That law will not be rescinded no matter how much we want it to be. We can learn to adapt tp them, get out of the industry, or go buy an 18 year old truck and hope they don't tweak that exemption.
