There could be a reason they are not taking the toll road. I know when i trained if I had extra time I would take side roads as well.
1. Not much experience is gained driving on a interstate. Put it in gear and stay between the lines.
2. Taking side streets gives you practice in following road signs, shifting, turns and just better situational awareness.

Don't worry about it. U won't have to listen to it much longer. We all still grind a gear every once in a while. I do it at least once a day. When you do your eval in your training book, do it alone. Not with him over your shoulder.
You should be racking up some points on your reward card too so you'll have a shower or two on it when for when you start out.Last edited: May 13, 2016

Yeah I understand in taking side streets for experience but we were under a time crunch and we ended up getting on the toll road anyways because the side road was taking to long, I think it cost him in the long run as he went into violation when we stopped for the night.

Reload Monday in Franklin OH going to Grand Forks. Another broker load. But hey they're keeping me busy.

True in a week and a half I'll be on my own and I can yell at myself for grinding gears, he did say that I would use my card the last week of training to rack up some points, does the trainee book go back to him or safety?

It will get turned into Mark in safety. But you're picking up a truck in GA, so I don't know. Be honest, I wasn't in mine but that's water that's went under the bridge 6 months ago.ncmickey Thanks this.

Trainee's eval of Trainer goes to Mark. And Mark is rather strict about the Trainer not seeing Trainee's eval, so feel free to be honest.
Sorry you missed the Kansas Turnpike. One toll road that's actually worth the money.cdavis188, tallinthesaddle4life and ncmickey Thank this. -
Is it my imagination, or are we getting more FL drivers? Seems the last 2 or 3 intro messages Tony has sent out on new drivers, at least 1 has the words "is from FL". Glad I didn't tarnish the image of FL drivers (more than we already were tarnished). Would be nice to see more loads coming down here. We have some seafood freight out of the Jax ports and out of SE Ga. As long as they keep us north of I-4, Florida ain't that bad for drivers, at least parts of the year.
Ordy19, ncmickey and 4mer trucker Thank this.
