Met a guy today leased to Landstar with a truck from American Truck Showrooms. Said his payments were $980 per week. He also said he's not the only one with a truck from there at Landstar. My only question is this.......

Are rates really that high there that you can afford a weekly expense that high?!

It included insurance, IRP Plates, and 2290. Apparently they do it all in house. Just seems like a lot to me.

It's the worst deal going. They are infamous for it, but they'll "finance" ANYBODY. Somebody that has to go there, probably doesn't have much financial sense. Can you spend $1k a week and make it at Landstar, sure. That's a new truck and trailer and insurance payment, and there are plenty that have those here. I'm going to guess that he's not doing that well though. The Prime LP guys are right there about a grand a week, and there are plenty of them.

Everybody's life is different. My SINGLE friend drives a nice Volvo with a Conestoga, has a late model Range Rover Autobiography, and a 27' Sea Ray. Works on average 7-8 months a year. He doesn't have to worry about the things I do with a family like college funds, private school, safe neighborhood, etc. On the other end of the spectrum, I had an o/o leased to me that had a family, lived in an old trailer and didn't worry about any of the things I worry about. Everyone, and their expectations are unique.

They fined me 500 because i was late to deliver due to i80 being shut down for a blizzard. To top it off, they never paid me for the load. If you see a landstar parked, pull the pin for me
