Any of you ever traverse across Ontario with Holland? Pickup tomorrow in Ogden, and have a drop in Warren, MI and final in Schenectady, NY. My preplan has me routed across Ontario and listing the shorter miles. I am waiting for a verification from dispatch. This sound right? I have my passport but nobody has ever bothered to check with me if I did have it.
Been 15+ years since I ran Canada, but I've never traversed Canada, US to US, and not even sure what that entails at the border. -
Last time I did it it was pretty simple. Present the document to the Canadian customs official they'll take a copy and give you a seal. Pull ahead and walk back, put the seal on and go. When you get to the U.S. Side they verify the seal and take a copy. Simple except your still subject to all the Random stuff that happens at the border. Long lines, random searches of your truck, person, and cargo. And of course all the fees and tolls associated with crossing the border.

I was always told that cutting through Canada like that was a no-no.

I used to do all the time going to buffalo from Michigan when I ran auto parts
It was a in transit manifest customs sealed and checked seal on way out. But that was way back when pre 9/11. Was a piece of cake then. -
I think whoever entered the load just didn't pay attention to how the routing defaulted to (across Ontario). I think tomorrow they'll see the issue, correct it and send me corrected route and pay mileage. But was unsure since they do have all the Canadian provinces on the apportion card, even though they claim "they do not run Canada".

My company did that last summer, then they had to correct it. The dispatch assistant at the time was new to the system and didn't realize the mistake and that had to be cleared up.

Anyone familiar with the Walmart DC in Terrell TX? Did a switch with a driver on hometime (he dropped the loaded trailer at his park location since I was still on the prior load). No load information other than "contact broker for load information". Problem is I have a PO but no appointment number.
Being very familiar with Walmart I know some places don't care and will just look up the PO while others (especially Sams club) are totally anal and will reject you without the appointment number (think this is a Sams load lol).
Called the broker and left a message but I have a feeling he disappeared for a long weekend and this delivers on Monday -
I would just show up..some DCs have asked me for it and others said dont worry about it..
