It's something I have to consider. My wife jut got her CDL, so, I am considering doing a lease option, OTR, 3-4 weeks out, pooling our pay together. I am an experienced driver. I figured that this way, with better miles driving together , the costs would be much easier than as a solo. Any opinions ? Thank you.

There's companies out there that your wife and you could work at grossing well over $200k/year. Stack some of that cash for a truck and buy your own after a couple of years.

One thing to consider is that if you are leasing a truck from someone else, you are are usually going to pay a higher rate on the truck & trailer payments as a team.

Go with a company that pays % and theyre some companies that dont charge for using their trailer or its factored in the percentage.

Yes sir, that is the plan. About 2 years and we will look into a straight purchase, maybe doing power only. Thanks for the reply.

I think its better if you go to a company like old dominion where you can clear atleast 70/80k each in your first year/two and fo up from there. Then after some more experience and a proper bank roll, I would suggest it.

I'd need to see the financials for a team in a lease purchase before considering it - I really have no idea - but that $200k + figure as a company team I can vouch for.

Personally I'd rather have the company benefits than the risk of LP if those were the 2 options toward raising capital toward outright O/O operation.

    Good luck either way.

I talked to the wife about it, she's uneasy with doing the doubles. That's why I figured that as a team, and lease purchase, we could save up and then do a straight purchase. The $$ here as a solo and team is limited. But the O/O & lease drivers say they are doing well. That's why I think LP husband & wife might be a solution for now.
