Recovered a truck that the driver died in recently... 15yrs with the company, otherwise healthy and only 42yrs old. Most likely cause was CO/CO2 poisoning while he slept, still waiting on toxicology though. Detectors are cheap, I would like to see OSHA mandate them in tractors...
Buy a CO/CO2 detector if you sleep in your truck!

I have had one for about 6 years after a co-worker got CO poisoning not once but twice from the same truck. Dealer swears they found and fixed the leak in an almost brand new truck. Not sure why the guy is still trucking. Almost dieing twice, I would own that dealer and a good portion of that manufacturers profits for the year.
snowlauncher and Dark_Majesty_06 Thank this. -
Good post. Where do you buy one that would work for a truck?
Ryan423 Thanks this. -
Makes sense with all those Tri-pac tail pipes pointing up underneath your sleeper floor.

I bought a standard one a lowes, walmart, etc. Im sure a house unit would work in a truck.Getsinyourblood and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this.

Great Idea!!!
I actually had a leak in my truck too... I was commenting to my wife one day about feeling grumpy in general and sleepy while driving... Within a week I was stopped at a Volvo dealer for a smoke issue coming from the engine compartment and it was connected to, you guessed it, an exhaust leak.
It was fixed and all returned to normal.
So sometimes YOU might be the early warning detector... If you are feeling or acting differently than normal... Consider a CO2 leak.
As for me, heading off to Walmart or Lowe's today.Starboyjim, G13Tomcat, truckthatpassesyouby and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yeah me too, i was getting headaches and feeling kinda sick so i checked out the exhaust manifold and found a tiny crack in it. Manifold was replaced and then no more problem. Good idea to check the bolts for tightness and look for little black soot marks on entire exhaust system.

This is why I don't idle when I sleep. A/c air intake brings in air from the engine area also. If those manifolds have a leak or there are apus and weedkillers saturating the lot, your pretty much gonna wake up with a headache or not wake up at all.

Yup... Headaches too... Must be aware of all potential symptoms for CO2 problems.rachi Thanks this.
