My FLD glass can handle a full grown Mallard at 65 mph. Caught plenty of songbirds in the grill.

Caught a turkey with the top of a van bob years ago. Sounded like we hit a bridge or a tree.

Not sure I'd wanna buy a new gi-mundo curved windshield for one of those newfangled aero trucks. Them things gotta be at least $300. Those new trucks are like a rolling greenhouse.

I'm surprised at you. Every truck driver worth his salt has watched EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. OF. CSI. At least twice.

You KNOW they are going to stick a thermometer in the birds butt and determine the time of death couldn't possibly coincide with said incident. They always nail the perp.

I had a goose come through my wind sheild in Dallas about 15 years ago. Fortunately I was only going about 20 mph and was bobtailing at the time. Dispatch made me pick that #### bird up and bring it back to the shop. The worse part was that the goose was still alive.

I like the dad in Texas that left his kid in the car and then put it in his fridge to try and cool it off and bring it back to life.
    (Yes, it's terrible too)

I haven't hit a bird in months. This thread has been bad luck for me.

It started last weekend in North Dakota. First a finch ate the grill, then a swallow misjudged the air cushion and bounced off above the windshield, then a sparrow tried to air brake but ended up smacking the windshield on the left edge and left a bloody smear. Then in West Virginia I made a pigeon pie two days ago.

The zinger came last night crossing southern Missouri on US-60. First there was a raccoonicide under the driver side steer, jumped out of nowhere.

    Then "WHAM!"

Dark shape coming down and across from the trees to the right. Almost a direct hit in front of my eyes. He must have been so focused on hearing that mouse in the median he didn't hear me coming.

I thought I heard cracking glass and stopped at the next truck stop. No damage, but I didn't need to take a sip of coffee for an hour after scrubbing the windshield clean. 20160701_022316.jpg

The other day three birds flew in front of my truck and were reduced to flittering feathers in the mirror. One was one of those smaller black birds that like to follow harvesters in the field, the next was a bright red bird and another was a dove, too pretty to be a pidgeon, sitting on the side of the two way highway, at the last moment got scared and flew right in front of the truck. Trucker going the other way gave a thumbs up for me holding the lane perfectly.

Then the next day or the next a bird flew out in front but decided to get some elevation but I heard him hit the condo riser.

Thinking these might be juvenile birds that hatched in the spring and are just not experienced enough in the cold hard world.
