Less than $25 shipped to your door. They are affordable and not having one is just silly. Or lazy. Or both.

Considering that the majority of the drivers out there don't have any idea of what they are going to be doing in the next few seconds, you're pretty good.
That BTW, was aimed at four wheelers. With truckers, it likely is only about half that don't have any idea what they are doing...

Follow up to make sure it doesn't show up on your DMV record as an accident

It will be on your PSP report for the next 5 years. Now FMCSA is looking into the feasibility of not showing not at fault crashes on the truck driver's PSP. But for now all crashes go on the PSP regardless of fault. FMCSA figures drivers who crash, even drivers who are not at fault are wholly unaware of the idiots around them and therefore are far more likely to crash in the future.

I wasn't going to respond to this reply, but I don't think that this was called for.... I mean, I thought this forum was intended to help us all do better, especially rookie drivers, and give us a means to seek and share advice with others who have been on the same road as it were.... ????

I have gotten a lot of advice to date, some of it was great, and I am thankful, but this response was totally uncalled for..... I am not one to let things go one way (except a one way street), and will gladly share advice if I am able to.

With the exception of the remark about your safety record, (which I have no way of knowing how accurate that remark is,) it seemed to me like a pretty good post. Some things in there to take to heart.

I gave my advice, you come to this forum and hang your dirty laundry out for all too see your 6 incidents since August of 2015.
I make a rather rude comment about your record, and everyone else in the thread just chocks up your last incident to the great driver not your fault board.

This is my opinion, on a 100% opinion made forum. You don't want the negative comments, don't tell your stories.

Sometimes the truth hurts. Usually, the more it hurts, the truer it is, and the more it needs to be paid attention to.

If the lady in the other vehicle was transported for medical attention, you may want to check to ensure a post accident drug test isn't required. You don't want a "refusal to test" accusation on top of everything else.
Also, as another poster said, your company safety director could still very well credit you with a preventable accident. They may say, if you had been driving defensively, you would have anticipated that someone could pull out in front of you. And you should have slowed to ensure there wasnt anyone there to pull out in front of you before you proceeded. I'm not saying I agree with them. I'm not a safety director. But I have seen other guys get a preventable on their record in the exact same way, for the exact same reason. So don't be surprised if that happens.

Since the officers all agreed I was not at fault, and the only real way for me to prevent it was to cross that intersection +/- 5 minutes earlier/later, I was only traveling 20-22 in a 25, AND the other driver wasn't licensed(she should not have been behind the wheel of anything bigger than a golf cart), I highly doubt this, but have requested a copy of the actual report anyway.
