The new LOVES Travel Plaza in Hawthorne, Florida on US Hwy 301 is about to open. Their sign is up for hiring interviews and there will be a McDonald's soon. It appears to have a good sized parking lot too.

Oh goody. Will they have a fast food chain inside?. How about high priced merchandise aimed at 14 year old girls? Maybe I can get a half rotten banana at the register to qualify as the healthy food they have.
Sorry just can't get excited even if Florida desperately needs the parking. -
I didnt think they existed, but I actually found a Loves with more than 5 showers. Only exeption is it used to by a Flying J (Clive, IA)NavigatorWife Thanks this.

I've seen a couple of those Loves that look like they took over a Flying J one in Gary IN and one in Corning Ca. First time I walked into one I had to go back outside and look at the sign to make sure I was in the right place.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Nobody said you had to stop there

It seems to me that over the last several years. Loves is the only chain that has reached into their pockets and bought land then invested in new facilities. We do wish they had restaurants, but they are the only ones adding parking and showers.
Seems to me, that the other chains just buy up existing business. They do nothing to help us with more parking nor more showers.
Even those that dislike loves should appreciate their effort.NavigatorWife, drvrtech77, classic_150 and 2 others Thank this. -
When Pilot bought Flying J years ago, the Federal Trade Commission stepped in and made Pilot sell off 26 of the old Flying Js. Loves stepped in and bought those properties. The government did this because there was concern that Pilot would have to big a market share and could set prices, they wanted competition.NavigatorWife, tucker and 6daysontheroad Thank this.
