Yeah well, the God Lord will also put you with Swift if you keep begging for something he doesnt have plans for you in either.

To put it bluntly, your question has been asked a few times in the last few days...not sure if its by you or someone else as well but I've seen this elsewhere on here.
To the blunt part...felonies are a big black flag for most companies; seriously. No matter how you put it or word it (I mean...aren't we all innocent...or....it never goes the way they say it did...etc)...its a big no no.
A felony is a serious crime, bigger than a misdemeanor. You are driving a companies 100k truck, Xk trailer, plus goodies inside of it and such and you broke some big laws.

I mean...as an employer, what do you think they are going to say if you go in and say "blah blah blah, Im a good worker, my coworkers depend on me, Im reliable...I did 10 years for killing someone, I make great waffles...."

Having that on your record is like a teacher having a sexual assault on their record. Its just not good. And yeah, its going to be a pain in the bass finding a job. Sure, some MIGHT hire you, but that doesnt mean they are a good company. No offense to the previous felons on here, but if I had two applicants and such...and all things were equal...but one was a felon....Im sure one can figure out who I'd hire / or at least heavily lean towards.

The world is so full of people who are not willing to forgive or forget.I know its a pain with felonies trying to get a job driving, but I also know its not about the insurance company or the trucking company, its about who you know, and rather you are black or white.I'm not racist, but I will call it like I see it because I have seen the difference. The ones who never wants to forgive are the ones always end getting in trouble and then want the world to come to their rescue.Look at Berrni E at Worldcom, look at Ken L Enron, all these people were not willing to give people second chances now look at their fait.Richarfd S in Mississippi a once produmanant lawyer who started the major lawsuits against tobacco companies, gone to prison for wrong doing, but wanted the world to come to his aide about what he done in the pass to help his community. These are the people thats allowed to get second chances, but when you are broke and don't have anything everybody thinks that you will do the same wrong you did in the pass.

You also have to keep in mind just because a person doesnt have a felony doesnt mean they are not a crook. These people I just mentioned was not a felony, but now they is.Lesson learned. The guy Bernnie E was owner of kllm transport.

I did not know I could reply directly to you but those posts I just read and is looking forward to your response.

I dont think this is true. Insurance is a huge part of determining whether or not to hire someone. if you have had 3 accidents in the last 3 years, thats a huge insurance risk. These companies dont want someone who can't control a car or pickup truck, much less put them in charge of a semi, trailer and the expensive load. Their insurance is determined by who they hire.

As far as race, that also doesnt make sense as MOST companies hire by phone. At least the bigger companies.

This doesnt make sense...mainly because after reading it 32 times...I still don't understand wht you are trying to say....its not reading right.

In the trucking industry, I don't think it's so much not forgiving and/or forgetting as it is they're not willing to take a chance by hiring an employee with a felony record. Especially when it involves theft.

One thing ALL Big truck truckin' companies have in common is they're ALL in business to make a PROFIT. No matter WHAT color a driver happens to be, if they help a company achieve their goal of making a profit they couldn't care less what color that driver's skin is. All the company wants to see is green $$$.

I bet if your skin was green ANY truckin' company would hire you on the spot. But a broke and hungry person with a felony theft on their record is going to have a hard time finding a truckin' job because the company would be worried that temptation would control that employee's thought process.

And, if a company DOES take a leap of fate by hiring someone with a record of theft, and something turns up missing, at whom do you suppose they'd point their finger?

If someone you know recommended you for the job, and you were hired based on their recommendation, there's a good chance they'd be accused of being involved and you'd both be suspected and investigated and/or terminated.

As strange and out of whack as it may seem, trucking companies would hire a killer before they'd hire a convicted, or even suspected, thief. That's just the way it is.

SunZee: You only have a CDL permit and not a license. Work on a dock somewhere loading and unloading trucks (search for pumper jobs) after a few years start jockeying around trucks in a yard then goto school and get the CDL. It is gonna take a few years to accomplish what you want.

The Memphis intermodal yard is expanding also. Many of these boxes need to be broken down in warehouses before shipment = they need manual labor.

Yeah well hmm, unless you are Jesus with a business degree, I wouldn't suggest doing that either. Being an owner op right now is next to impossible, even for those with the best intentions. something like 100,000 trucks have been taken off the road this year.

    Things wrong with the statement:
Not good...3 months is not nearly long enough on your own to understand the trucking world, much less every single aspect of the business side of it when it comes to the side of being an owner op.

you can't put 'broker' and 'not going through all the bs' in the same sentence. A broker IS bs by their nature. Just like credit card reps...if their lips are moving, they are lying. A broker is going to take a $3k load and offer it to you for half that and say its the best they can do. Then they will keel over and die twice if you ask for the fuel surcharge.

    hello everyone
i would just like to say its just not that hard to get a driving job with a felony record.
i got into a lot of trouble 1977-1988 went into a two year live in rehab and been clean every since.
matter of fact i learned how to drive while in rehab.
althought not proud of it, i have a felony record as tall as me ( really ) most of witch is for felony auto burglary ( to suport a drug habit)
and iv'e disclosed this to all my employers, including the one that our load value was 1.5 million. its really more about how u present yourself in most cases. ive even been hired by companys that have clearly stated as part of there qualifcations NO FELONIES
so keep looking my friend it wont be an easy road but hang in there and stay clean an outa trouble.
companies that have hired me ( not to say these are good places to work) lol!
    interstate dist tacoma,wa
    marten transportation mondovi,wi
    may trucking brooks,or ( drove an o/o truck ) not co.truck
just to name a few of the bigger ones
agian hang in there an good luck
bt the way you'll find there is quit a few people out will to give you a chance. not everyone thinks( once a criminal always a criminal) as much as it seems like it
    ps
just went back and reread your post did'nt catch the part bout just having a permit,
i really hate!! to suggest this but you might have a chance at gettn on at England in salt lake,ut
but, DO NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! let them talk you into a lease its really a bad place to get involved in one as most are if not all.
go back and read posts on england also others like werner and the rest of the bottom feeders
by the way you should spend at least 1.5 yrs on the road first,it takes most people that long to figure out if its for you or not (trucking) some people figure it out much sooner though good luck !!

I drove the Wal Mart dedicated account for SNI in Henderson, NC for over a year and if I could have stood the night driving I would still be there. The problems that the first post described were pretty much par for the course for drivers coming in from otr or other accounts to help out because the office expected everyone to know that sams dosn't take loads till 2100 or on Sat. I trained several otr guys to run the reefers and do the paperwork. Some acts are better than others at telling the guys stuff and dispatching loads and from what i understood the Henderson DC was one of the better ones. I made money, ran every day, got any day off I needed without arguing and had 2 full days off a week but could run extra if I wanted to. Also, if I was too tired to take a 2cd load all I had to do was say so and I was pulled off no questions asked. It was a good act imho if you liked nights and SNI I don't have anything really bad to say. Their benefits were outstanding.
