Would you rather drive an automatic transmission Chevrolet Corvette or a 7 speed stick?

    Wargames,

Like it or not, more and more fleets are going to automatics. It lowers the barrier to entry if a company has a training program.

Because a lot of drivers now a days are in automatics, it makes bringing on new additions to the driver fleet easier.

Being able to drive a manual truck doesn't make someone any more of a truck driver than someone who can only drive an automatic.

I can drive both, so for me, there always is a job out there if I need it.

I don't know... He has 42 years of experience so you are still just wet behind your ears. :D

Only a year experience here so I will just keep to myself and enjoy driving this iShift Volvo.

Stay Safe no matter what you drive.

This truck driver goes into a ##### house, slaps $500 on the counter and tells the madam that he wants the ugliest girl in the place and a ham sandwich,
The madam of the house looks at the money and tells him, "for $500 you could have the most beautiful girl in here"
The truck driver looks back at her and says, "Hey look sweetheart, I'm not horny, I'm home sick."

Two different applications... I like riding horses too but not sure I would prefer to drive a team of them Coast to Coast... Or even across town.

Here is a story to add to this. My Mother inlaw in I believe 1975 road with the bicentennial wagon train, out of lake forest, Illinois, she comes to my wife and says "Im leaving, take care of my house while im gone". Wife jaw drops. Mother in law was gone for over a month in a wagon train, they stopped at certain towns and people would join in. I have a lot of pictures and books they wrote on the trip.

I don't know about 99% but most of the big fleets are migrating more strongly towards them as the technology improves and price comes down. Purists will always want 3 pedals and a stick just like with cars, but the benefits of the latest automated-manual units is undeniable.
