    Guess that's one way to cut down on legacy cost in the long run.

    Been seeing a bunch of them around. Saw one really nice maroon W900 in Avenel, NJ with "Leased to: UPS Freight" on the door, hauling a doubles set.

    Just talked for over an hour to a UPS O/O in Dallas this week. He seemed like a bug in a rug. Sometimes it's hard to tell fact from fiction when a person is painting a picture of their work environment.

    Here are the details if I remember correctly [and he was telling the truth]:

    10 days out minimum;
    Between Thanksgiving and the end of December- required ~4,000 miles per week or maximum allowable with 70 hours;
    $1/mile plus FSC coming out to around $.10/mile on 6.5 gallons/mile average;
    Loads and messaging with Dispatch through cell phone;
    1-year min. experience;
    No need to even meet with anyone at UPS; everything online/phone and your plates, contract, etc sent by post;
    Pay next day after sending in trip pack.

    That's all I can remember at the moment...

    I don't know how anyone could get excited over a $1 a mile. Yeah, yeah, yeah they probably have a fuel discount, plenty of easy freight, lots of steady miles, and they pay fast. None of which makes the rate any more enticing.

    ramblingman, RERM and Ruthless Thank this.

    It must be the allure of separating themselves from a company based work model that interests would-be owner operators, that and/or the reliability of the steady work that they cannot get out of load boards or their lease companies. Perhaps, the low pay is their way of working towards something instead of being a company slave.
    I wouldn't know.

    But that 1.02 a mile tho..... that's a hard pill to swallow. And you have to work the holidays?? 4K miles a week??? I like chasing dollars not miles F that,

    Ruthless Thanks this.
