I was heading from Ohio to Illinois on Sunday and passed this scene on I-70 eastbound at exit 115. Freeway was completely stopped, traffic was being directed off the exit and there was an 8 mile backup.

The whole scene. Fourth truck is mostly hidden behind the fire engine:

And in case anyone is wondering, I was at a complete stop when I shot those photos.. traffic was stop and go due to both construction and rubbernecking.

So, the three trucks behind the stepdeck all had brake problems at the same time? Or was there black ice?

Apparently the fourth truck hit the third one so hard that it pushed them all into each other.

I always get tailgated in single lane construction zones, I just slow down more and more...
I guess they're going to have to mandate an OnGuard system in every truck.
    Or hire more State Police

I bet the driver of the white volvo had his flip flop fall off as he brought his leg down off the dash while trying to mash the brake pedal.

Yep me too but the thing is I've dropped down to 55 in a 65 and the douche still wouldn't back off. Whether be construction zone or open road.

There was another "stopped traffic" accident on I-74 west of Indy yesterday involving a propane tank. I want out of this area before I get rear ended.

What a mess. And they still have not expanded 70 to 3,4 or 5 freaking lanes. Cheapstakes.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.
