Booted on Hobby Lobby Parking Lot- Newnan, GA

I wasn't aware of this research, but I've got to agree. Some of the most stressful situations I've encountered out here have been searching for a parking spot at times.

 

There are some legitimate reasons, loading and unloading delays are not included.

It does happen, and if you have an accident or get caught it's on you, but in the real world it happens.

 

Yes I have seen a big bobtail booted in the Hardee's lot down the street from the Pilot at Bouldercrest exit in Conley/Atlanta GA. I went down there bobtail myself to get some lunch and was wanting to park under a shade tree but I saw the booted truck and made a hasty exit back to the ghetto dump Pilot where they have armed police roaming the store and thugs slinging dope outside in the parking lot.

 

If the driver has ELD the violation from driving past the 11 or 14 or the 8 hour break will be electronically documented on the ELD for the next 8 days for any law enforcement to see and cite and fine you for it. This is the high stress thing because the company can also be fined for it and they will not put up with that too long, it could get a driver fired-- more stress. What if the officer says you look tired, you're out of service for 10 more hours then you're late on your load and again company fires you-- more stress plus you can't get another driving job for a long time-- more stress. So you try to grab a quick legal break over there at the Hobby Lobby and they put a $580 dollar boot on your truck, if you don't pay you're late on your load, if you do pay, you worked a couple loads for free thanks to Federal Hours of Service limitations.

 

I read about a driver on the Swift board who was out of hours, he refused to drive off the property illegally so Swift had to hire a tow truck to tow the rig off the property-- puts the onus back on the company to take care of it.

Pulled in a shipper in NJ for a drop and hook . Had 8.75 hours left on my 14 . Get my bills 8.5 hours later. Ask to stay 1.5 hours longer? No must leave now or we are calling the cops! Plan for that ...

 

Lol one of our drivers has a way of dealing with that, he goes in and tells them ah crap I have an engine issue and I have a call in...1.5 hrs later he goes back and tells them hey I found the fuse to replace and I'm good to go...

 

Most people would clock into the sleeper after about 15 minutes. And if it takes a while, well at least you're working towards a 10 hour reset
