I'm seriously considering a change over to flatbed after driving a dry van for about 3 years now. But I'm on the hunt for that "perfect" company. I'm with a really good dry van company now but I've always wanted to pull flatbed. I'm trying to find a flatbed company that'll fit.
Most of the information I'm able to find online but seems finding out about hiring areas and running areas isn't always the easiest.
Anyone know of flatbed companies that run all 48 states? Home time isn't an issue. I'm home every other weekend and perfectly okay with that. Oh yeah, I'm in the central part of NC, also.
Any hello would be appreciated. I've been looking at BTC in Memphis but really looking for someone that runs coast to coast.
Thanks.

Thanks for the response.
I looked at System Transport... I was hoping the North and South California thing was a typo and they meant Carolina but turns out NC isn't in their hiring area.
Jones Bros is looking interesting tho.
Thanks again.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Jones is a true 48 state carrier. Don't know much about it other than that.

Britton Transport out of Grand Forks, ND does 48 state flat and I know we have at least one driver from NC. New driver pay starts at $0.40 before bonuses. Experienced drivers up to $0.45 before bonuses. Training is top notch, tarp pay is $25 for steel and $50 for lumber tarps, extra stop pay, etc. We haul a bit of everything and have some dedicated customers where trailers are preloaded, strapped, and chained. Driver health insurance is paid.
Only been here a few months myself but seems as "perfect" as it gets. Close knit company that does not micro manage with great equipment and driver support. Some other drivers here are @MrEd and @Lost Navigator
Good luck and lets us know if you need further info. -
How close are you to Laurinburg, NC? maverick has a yard there and a glass plant right next door. It use to be own by schneider, but maverick bought them out*glass*
Start newbs .50cpm for glass and more if you have experience. Flatbed and glass goes 48 with glass also going to canada.
If you choice glass, u still will haul flatbed loads if it's slow.
BUT!! I don't think it's a true otr or coast to coast. Maverick doesn't go out west much, once in a while I get something to cali or Oregon. -
Sluglife, I live by Fort Bragg, NC. Been here at Britton flatbed for over 2 years. This is a good company and I would highly recommend them.
Dale Clay from Maverick has many YouTube videos on that company.
Good luck. -
I hardly ever see open deck loads breaking 1000 miles. 55' train cars really soaked up that coast to coast freight.
Dye Guardian Thanks this. -
I work for Smokey Point Distribution. They run coast to coast with yards in Texas, Kansas, California, Washington, and south Carolina. We pull all kinds of trailers hauling aerospace and other specialized freight. No lumber or building materials but we do tarp almost everything including loads of things that aren't easy to tarp. Aup, fridge, satellite tv, 401k with company match, newer trucks that get turned in around 500k.
They will now take drivers with no flatbed experience but you have to have a spotless driving record in all road conditions. They will train you with a local driver in Washington shagging loads back to the yard for a few weeks. If everything goes well they offer you a job at the end of training. If not it's a plane ticket home.
I have been her for almost two years with very few complaints. I ran 149k paid miles last year and was home about every other weekend but that varies greatly on where you live and where you want to run
Any questing just ask.

Thanks for the reply. I'll certainly look into Smokey Point. Do they require a TWIC card?
Thanks again.
