I hear you, can't say how many times I made contact with utility lines when I was doing residential work, kinda lucky now that I do mostly dealership work on the same routes every week so I know what to look out for. I feel your pain, LTL puts you into everywhere with a lot of places a truck doesn't belong. My hat is off to y'all.
It would be nice if the utilities actually followed the rules, it would make their system better in the long run, it has to be cheaper to do it right the first time rather than fix it over and over.
Phone lines...

This is something that my boss should be told repeatedly. Instead of applying band-aids to problems.brian991219, texasbbqbest and Mike2633 Thank this.

When I worked at the pizza shop years ago I wrote on our dry erase board "There's never enough time, to do it right, but there's always enough time to do it over."DDlighttruck, misterG and brian991219 Thank this.

Back in the old days, the phone companies used to do some bizarre things with their phone lines. In the rural Colorado areas, I've seen them attach lines to trees, and fence posts. I've even seen them just lay them in the barrow ditches beside roads. Back in the fifties and sixties they started renting space on power poles, well below the power lines.
But some of these rural phone co-ops were "interesting!"x1Heavy, Mike2633 and brian991219 Thank this. -
As a mover going to residentials every day we clipped many a lines. Out boss was an old time bed bugger. "Just rip um down, boys" he'd say.

Got another one a couple days ago.

I think I'm up to about 6 now...
misterG, spyder7723 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Meh... still zero on lines. Twice I had stand on the catwalk with a borrowed broom to push the line over the top of my trailer.
So paranoid about my monthly safety bonus. I need all the boost in my paycheck I can get... last I checked, my weekly ammo budget exceeds my monthly beer budget. -
You get a safety bonus every month? Interesting....
We only get ours at the end of the year.
I'm not sweating this one. It was over a public road. Pulled it right out of the wall of the house it was feeding while leaving some little section 8 apt complex.
Oh well... Somebody should've hung it higher.
misterG, road_runner and Big Don Thank this. -
Priorities, you must have priorities!
road_runner Thanks this.
