My company is offering Tropicana Dedicated routes from Bradenton,FL. Have hauled for them in the past and always had decent runs from there, Drop N hook was a plus too. Offer is guaranteed 9600 miles a month at my company's CPM rate wether I run that or not. Mainly east coast to occasionally as far west as Texas. Wondering if anybody has ran dedicated for them and how it turned out for you. And of course I run hard and do not have to be home much so i plan on running more than 9600 a month.

In 98 i ran Tropicana dedicated, Bradenton to City of Industry, CA. for 6 months. It was OK because i knew my mileage for the week. It wasn't rushed, 5 days out, 5 days back, so i didn't have to worry about hours. $1000 a week gross was the average. It was D/H in Bradenton but live unload/reload in COI. But they had the reload ready for when i got there so no real delays.
I just got bored with running I-10 so i asked to be taken off it and back to nationwide OTR.

Nice, but found out later today they changed their minds to expand Tropicana fleet. I would've loved that gig FL to Cali but company I'm with only goes as far west as Dallas area.

Actually got on Tropicana!! Great Miles so far but it's been only 1st few weeks. Turns out a guy backed out so they called me to join. Driving for Watkins Refrigerated out of Lakeland,FL @.44 cpm. They are hiring company drivers. Miles are about 1800-2100 avg on company side, Trop offers 2400 guaranteed a week if I run that or not but looking like I'll be closer to 2800-3000..... hopefully. Good luck to ya Razzle!

I have been with Watkins as an O/O for over 4 years, I think they are a great company to work for. I do not run the Tropicana run, but I have pulled out of there several times. I mostly run FL to NC and back. Good company and great people

Any idea what it's like driving for Tropicana's private fleet. Not that I'm looking, just curious.

I use to pass by their plant in East Windsor NJ off of rte 33 all the time. Don't know if it's still there or not, but I always wondered what they were about. I know they're Teamsters and part of PepsiCo, but that's about it.

Hey LMB, Did you get your Volvo through one of Watkins Partner leasing programs or did you just get it on your own? QES is what their lease program is through now. I crunch numbers and it seems I'd make about the same maybe few hundred more if I had my own truck than company. But Im a noob to the whole O/O thing so I'm only basing that on if I buy a $167,500 New truck for $10k down then $2625 over 60 months.

I bought one of the LandSpan Volvo's. Got a good deal, had 328k miles when I got it, with an APU $43k. Got about 3 more months to pay it off

I read all the time wether to get an APU is worth it or not. Company I was with before had APU's power inverters in the trucks and I can say from driving with Watkins and all the idling I do it sure does burn fuel. Gallon and hour vs the APU's today burn .2 gal an hour. I'd say it's a plus to have one. Getting one installed new though is $8500-$10,000 they say... Trucks are out there like yours ready to go! Just about finding them.
