It wouldn't let me use my credentials. Told me invalid email format. So i switched it from aol.com to msn.com. That worked.

Inside sources say that it is NOT CoPilot.

Then it's an exact twin. Cuz it darn sure looks and acts and downloads just like copilot. Same identical screens. Same exact gigs. Everything.

Were you able to use your existing credentials, @MidWest_MacDaddy ?

    Some clarity here.

It is a "bundle" app, meaning that it is bringing together several new or existing tools onto one platform. In addition, they look to be also selling it (or will be) as part of an Android hardware tablet (and that tablet happens to be a Samsung one with an AT&T data plan at release time.)

It is being developed by the same folks who run the "truckthat" dot com social site for truckers if you are familiar with that.

I installed it on an S6 and have poked around it a bit today. It is indeed licensing the navigation portion from the people who make CoPilot (hence why that part looks like CoPilot.)

It is an intriguing enterprise that has also been tried by the now defunct "Truckers-Tablet" and the current Rand McNally tablets. Again, the idea is to bundle multiple tools for truckers into one tablet (or phone) device in the hopes that they bring you lots of mobile apps to make your driving life better and more profitable. This is also done on a grand scale by the mega-players like QualComm and PeopleNet who concentrate on large fleets rather than the small or single-driver audience at a much higher cost.

I suspect that this "free CoPilot" concept is an introductory thing because giving that away for very long will set you in the poor house quickly. However it did indeed put a full version (all 2+ Gb of it) of CoPilot Truck on the device. I have no idea if it is permanent.

A very cool concept is the "Save" button in the app. Pressing that will give you a list of physical and online coupons for stuff out there. Everything from subs to headsets so to speak. There are a lot of coupons for truck stop and other "on-road" types of businesses that you encounter day-to-day. This is a very good idea on their parts. Their YouTube video even shows "reserved truck parking spots" for their members, although I could see THAT getting a bit sticky...

Finally, it seems as if it will be heavily "crowd-sourced" in terms of the social aspects. Driver POI ratings, maybe product reviews, truck stop reviews, opinions etc.

My two trepidations so far are: one crash of the app (which could have been CoPilot's fault) and some pretty heavy personal/device privacy intrusions during the installation. They should allow you to opt out of letting the app access your photos and most files and still get it installed. (except for files absolutely necessary for the app to operate of course.) Just don't try to tell me that it needs blanket access like it does now. As aforementioned, the navigation portion will use over 2 gigs of space on your device, but that is one of the main advantages of CoPilot to have the maps loaded on board if you have the space.

Overall, an intriguing new player. Will be interesting to watch. Perhaps they should send me one.. hint. From a business sense it also appeals to my advertising gene too.

(transparency note: I have zero business or personal connection to this product or its maker at the time of this writing.)

Sold it off to Verizon I believe.
Verizon also recently bought Yahoo too.
(Maybe not all of Yahoo but it's web services)

Not sure what Verizon's game plan is buying up older web portals and web services but it sure likes them a lot.

They buy it for the analytic data and advertising $$$ generated. Verizon and AT&T both use Yahoo's email systems, and both providers personal home web pages with advertising are generated and maintained by Yahoo.

I am bias I will fully admit that but that is one thing I love about Apple's Ecosystem... Apps can ask for permissions to different things but you have the option of saying no or changing it after the fact.

Not wanting to start something as I do also believe it's good to have many choices in the marketplace to please everyone.
