Balakov100 Thanks this. -
Bout the same as anywhere else if you're not from local area you get to stay in a hotel/motel for three weeks, learn to hold a steering wheel, go out with a trainer for three months later listening to his/her bs smell their dirty feet and farts & hopefully you'll learn to do the buffet roll, then graduate to first seat and get your own company truck......
MrIT Thanks this. -
U actually go with a trainer for 200 hrs of driving. So the more u drive the faster u can get off his truck.. go at ir pace not ur trainers.. if your trainer wants you to drive drive drive..immediately request for another trainer. Your trainer should want you to suceed after you go solo. But most just want you to drive while in their truck to make them xtra money. You dont have to team with another student after your trainer, which is a good thing.. and remember this, if you are not sure about it, whether its a route, a road, a companys driveway or parking lot, or when you're parking, then dont do it.

I went with swift academy.
Its $4500 and theres no commitment -
Community Colleges have good programs. Seek one out at least to compare and contrast.

There is a commitment. If u dont work there for 2 yrs.. u have to pay it back.. the remaining amout minus ur length of employment. They will put it on ur credit report if u do not pay it. I went to a cdl school and paid $2200 up front.. there are cheaper options also. It also depends on how mich common sense u have... my training was 18 days.. so i paid the minimum. There were some at the school that had been going for 3 months.. its about will and determination.

At Swift every newly licensed driver starts out with a trainer, whether they went through the Swift driving school or not. That's a completely separate thing from the driving school and doesn't cost the trainee any money. The Swift driving school just teaches how to pass the CDL written, pre-trip, and driving tests. That's all any driving school does. The time you spend with a trainer after you get hired is when you actually learn how to drive a truck.
Six thousand? WOW! I used a private driving school and paid $2700. I had to pay it all up front though.
