Try a KR scan gauge so when the problems happen you should be able to at least get the code, or clear the code.

Give the lease company an ultimatum, exchange this lemon truck for a brand new truck or take it back and terminate my lease. You're worried about losing $1300 bucks but if you stay in the lemon truck you could lose $130,000 in revenue in a year.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to jump ship. I will "lose" the cash I put towards repairs and the tire fund, but i think I'm just going to do it.
I'm going to go see lease face to face. I do plan on staying at Prime for the time being. I'll let you guys know how lease treats the situation.

Well remember you can take a truck out and return a truck in either the PA, UT or MO yards so if Springfield doesn't have the truck you want you can call another yard and check their inventory too.

Lets see, where to start with all this....

I would be asking this same question as well if my truck started putting me in the shop multiple times in a month. When did you start the lease?
Being that it's a used truck Success should cover that for you per the lease agreement and the used truck warranty they offer. You might have to fight with the a little to get it covered if this happened within there warranty period. Best person to take this up with would be Drew.
Which leasing woman told you can't lease a new truck, that is total BS. What location did you lease the truck from MO, UT, PA? Did you ever run company before you went lease after training to did you jump right into lease? That will make a difference on if you can switch to the company side. One reason why I always tell new drivers to run company for 6-12 months before you jump into the lease program, that way you can jump back to company if it doesn't work out.
Success Leasing doesn't dump lemon's on new Lease ops. They try as hard as they can to make sure the used trucks are in good working order and if there is any issue within the first I think 90 days, it's all supposed to be covered under the warranty Success has for used trucks. She'll need to speak with Drew or Pam to get that cost reiumbursed, they don't do it automatically. They have a lot of lease trucks on the road!
You are correct, only thing she should loose is the money she has put into the tire fund so far and what she would get on the lease completion bonus. With it only being 40k miles she has put on the truck, that's only $1800. Not worth sticking out the lease for that at this point. The only other thing is, she is going to get charged the reconditioning fee to have the truck cleaned and preped for sale or re-lease. No idea what cost will be.
It sounds more like an ECM issue than anything else. Last month my truck wouldn't start unless it was pushed or rolling down a hill, Yeah that was fun :). Come to find out, it was a blown relay module in the security system prime has installed on the truck. Something like a $10 part and $350 in labor. Working with my RA to get that covered under warranty right now. But there are times it's just a simple fuse or relay that is shorting out, but in this case it sounds like a possible computer issue. When it happens, does the onguard show any errors?
Having it at Sprimo for the work will be the cheapest place to be for sure. The shop rate is lower than most shops and the dealerships will charge you the same rate prime's shop does.
Prime doesn't sit there and flash the "BIG NUMBER" at them in oreintation or try and lure them into leasing a truck. Prime and Success Leasing are very up front about what it takes to run a business and the costs associated with doing that at Prime. No one has ever forced a driver into leasing at Prime. These are all adults that have asked the questions, looked at the lease agreement, inspected the truck for days all before they signed on the dotted line. Unlike other companies like Schnieder where you get an hour to look over your truck before you are told to sign on the dotted line in orientation.
I am guessing from your negative responses to leasing in general and trying to villafy Prime, that you have had bad luck leasing in the past and believe it was because whatever company you were at forced you into a lease truck instead of being a company driver. I am sorry you had that experience, but unless you have spent the time to research Prime's lease program or Prime in general, you might want to get off your high horse. The OP asked for advise on if she should turn the truck back in or keep dealing with it until the issues are resolved. She needs to make a business decision with regards to that and your stupid post does nothing more than inflame the situtation and make you feel better because you think another driver was taken advantage just like you were.

This is correct and very good advise. It will ultimately come down to making a business decision. The fact that you have money still saved up means you understood what you were doing when you got into this lease. LIke most of us, you weren't expecting to have any major issues with the truck. I would ask this, in the 40k miles you have done, how much money have you made, how much have you saved and in you best estimate, how much will it cost you to keep this truck until it's fixed? All business questions each of us that have been through a lease or are currently in a lease have to ask ourselves every day. @nofreetime has leased from Success, completed his lease and now owns the truck. He has been through the program and knows it can be done. Prime offers something most other lease programs don't, the fact you can walk away at anytime from the truck. I am not saying you should or shouldn't walk away, I am just saying take the time, run the numbers and look at the bigger picture. Why did you get a used truck with a short term left on it? Was it because you wanted to complete a lease so you can order a new truck and buy it through Success or just to try the lease program and see if you could be successful at it? Go back to your original business plan, if you have one, and see what it was that made leasing make sense and why this truck made sense before you started to have issues with it.
It doesn't sound like a code issue. If it was the codes should stay in memory until the shop hooks up and clears it, even if it's not an active code.
Fine fine, besides, I didn't want the eggs, they looked green ;)
Prime does have her back in this. She will need to talk with Pam or Drew about getting some of that money back and work with Jeff in the RA department who is the Freighliner Rep about trying to get this issue resolved if she keeps the truck or if she decides to turn it in, Prime will work with her since it's being turned in for a mechanical issue, not because she just can't handle being a lease op.

Hey, don't hate on the big pumpkin! They also require a year of experience before they let someone lease, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Although I do agree with you there. It's one thing if you're getting a brand new truck to lease at sni. But used... Those guys get to look at it, take it on a 15 min test drive and then sign the paperwork. It's ####### crazy in my opinion, but what do I know.

It's interesting how the lease works at prime. I have so many questions...
