I never gave much thought to it but it definitely seems like you sit longer in the Midwest than you do the NE at shippers/receivers.

Well, this past week has had its ups and downs. It started off very poorly when I left Monday. Left the yard around 6 AM to take some construction supplies to a condominium development still being built in downtown Greenville, SC. However, when I got there they told me they weren't ready for the supplies, nor did they have a place to keep them. Well, thanks for communicating that before I got there... So I took that load back to Charlotte and dropped it. Then I sat there & waited 3 hours for a new assignment, all they had was another short load going to Columbia, SC. I spent 4 hours at ConAgra foods there, which burnt up my 14 completely. However, the crew there was really nice & apologetic for the wait, and they let me take my 10 there. Also got $50 for detention & dealing with those shags.

Tuesday got me a much better load, went back to Charlotte and hooked to a drop trailer heading to Rogers, AR. It was another condominium development under construction, I was sweating bullets just trying to wiggle my way through the unpaved parking lot. I spent 3 1/2 hours there, 45 minutes just to maneuver through everything and to position myself to get unloaded, an hour and a half to get unloaded, and another hour or so just waiting for the construction machines and what not to get out of my way so I could leave. What a racket! Picked up a broker load in Sarcoxie, MO next going to Gaston, SC. Wasn't supposed to pick that up until the next day, but I showed up and was in and out in 2 hours. Ran like hell afterward and made it to the loves in Sikeston with two minutes on my 14. Then hightailed it all the way to Charlotte & dropped it there, spending 10 hours and 53 minutes driving on Friday.

I decided to work through the weekend so I could take all of Labor Day weekend off. I was given a load on the Charlotte yard heading for Margate, FL. Which worked out perfectly, because I got to spend most of Saturday at home by the pool. I'm getting unloaded in Margate as we speak, then I'm picking up in Miami and Hialeah later today en route to Rock Hill, SC. I'm not sure my actual mileage for the week because of all those shags, but I'd say it's in the 3000 mile range. August was a good month for me. Maybe I'll even get that mileage bonus?

Geeze KZ, I think I might want your fleet leader. Nice!! I got 1900 miles last week. Almost. Left the house Sunday night at 10pm for a QVC Suffolk load to New Stanton PA UPS. Load was ready at 8pm but picked up at midnight and Vampired untill 6am and took a 90 minute nap at the PA welcome center on I 70. Got back up and got the load there on time. Went for my backhaul and got there as my 14 expired and told I had to pickup elsewhere. Nope. Gotta take my 10 here. Been here 18 hours. Sun is coming up. Time to get my backhaul back to Henderson. Looks like another 2000 mile week.

Decided to work thru this weekend to make up for the 3 day weekend last week. Accepted a load to Bridgestone in Jax FL to drop in Saturday at 6 a.m. Dropped this morning but no empties. My backhaul was supposed to be a beer load from Busch. Not supposed to bobtail in there. As of Saturday night still no empty in the Jax area which is is not a problem since my beer load still isn't ready hours past the pickup time. Gonna call it a night and hope someone can figure it out in a.m.

Man I do not envy you. Beer loads are always an enormous pain. I worked through the weekend 2 weeks ago to turn some extra miles before the holiday and got 3100 miles for the week. Guess I got lucky. Hope your luck turns around bud

Just found out that my Fleet Leader Justin is leaving the company. Clayton from support staff is taking over for him. I hope that he gives me good miles like Justin did.

Justin from the Charlotte yard? He is (or apparently was) my fleet leader too.

Wow that sucks. I should've known something was amiss when I didn't see his Subaru next to the office this morning & got a live load leaving the house instead of the usual drop & hook. I liked Justin, I'm bummed to see him go. Hopefully his replacement will run me just as good.
