talking to a recruiter about doing the Dollar General out of South Boston, VA. I live near Roanoke Rapids, NC. What is the realistic money that can be made on this account. I know there is work involved. I'm not scared of work. He told me they would start me at .48 cpm

I think most of us who are afraid off work think there is no amount of money on the planet that would get us on a Dollar General Account.
Bakerman, KillingTime, austinmike and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you don't mind the stress of backing across a busy 4 lane rd into a parking lot not not meant for a rig for .48 cent a mile because you will not be driving many due to unloading etc go for it.
There is a reason there isn't a waiting list for that job.Bakerman Thanks this. -
I know all of the downfalls with the run. I want to be home more and where I live out in the country leaves me smaller options than most people and anything local pays less than Walmart greeters. So that's why I am curious of what the real money is.

I talked to a driver out of Jax who had finished unloading in Omega Ga , who states he makes 12-1400/weekly.He spoke highly of Werner and was off every weekend.

If you work yourself to death you'll make way more than your otr irregular route coworkers.
bamamac and KillingTime Thank this. -
Well I will say the recruiters suck. Don't want to answer any questions. All they want to do is pull the okie doke on you. Sign up OTR for now then when there is an opening we'll move you over. Ummmmmmmmm not only no, but helllllllllllll NO!

I don't think they don't want to answer, but rather they just don't know... I've found the left hand knows nothing of what the right is doing. Even dispatchers don't communicate to each other. So when one leaves in the midst of an issue you're trying to solve the next dispatcher knows nothing of it... I was once issued orders to head to Long Island. 'Sure will. What do you want me to do with the half-rejected load behind me?' - New dispatcher 'What rejected load?' - 'The one I've been trying to get rid of for 3 hours.' Then the next day: 'Why were you late to pick-up on Long Island?'...... Gee, I have NO idea.

Any store with the name "Dollar" in it beware. I go to the dollar stores for my own buying at times, but I'm cheap but...lol...We deliver to their DC'S but never the stores, they should just get the hourly day cabbers hauling those 28FT pups to deliver to their stores, then again that would be to easy and more costly. .
TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this.
