Its only over if you give up.

Companies like Swift and England have a giant turn table with drivers coming and going.

They are not my first choice of companies to work for. We like to refer to them as the bottom feeders,.. for the type of drivers they hire and take advantage of.

If all you have is 6 months experience,.. your going to have to get creative and make a lot of phone calls. Take a drive and knock on some doors and maybe try things the old school way.

The other aspect to think about,.. you said they fired you for safety reasons. I'm not trying to hurt your feelings here. But if you damaged my truck,.. or other property,.. or did unsafe things,.. I would probably have to let you go as well. Maybe trucking is not for you. You have to look at this realistically and try to understand exactly what you want to accomplish.

Some guys are a natural when it comes to equipment and trucks. They have the work ethic and mindset to master this craft and they accel by mastering not only the equipment,.. but the industry itself and either land work with the best companies out there or end up buying their own truck and become successful that way.

With companies like England and Swift,.. you are just a number. A pawn in the cog of a large wheel that needs to operate smoothly and efficiently. When you first start in this business, everyone has a period where they struggle or find themselves in a position they do not like,... we call this paying your dues. The key here is to learn from this and move on. Do not repeat the same mistakes. Do not put yourself in the same situation where you are going to make the same mistakes. Hiring on with companies like Swift, Werner, Stevens etc,.. you will find yourself being micromanaged and forced to comply and work how they want you to work. You have little choices. In order to survive,.. you must do as you are told. The idea is to keep your work history and record clean,.. no blemishes,.. this way once you get enough time and experience under your seat,.. you can move on to something better. Job hopping,.. damaging equipment,.. arguing with management,.. or being a general problematic employee will not help you.

Your career is only over if you give up. Figure out where you went wrong,.. do what you can to correct the problems and move on.

At some point you are going to have to ask yourself if trucking is the career you want to spend the rest of your life with. Is your heart and soul in this? Is it in your blood? Do you love the road? Do you love trucks and equipment? Because if you are just in this for the money and its nothing but a job for you,.. then I would suggest finding a different line of work. You will only continue to find problems in this industry if you arent in love with it.
