Good thing you won't be fired. That's a start, but also perhaps a reflection on the outfit you are working for.

Get a lawyer in the jurisdiction that you got the ticket. Don't delay about this, get it done TOMORROW (Monday). Explain everything to your lawyer, including your desire to protect your CDL.

The thing is you may want to move up to a better job within three years. A reckless driving conviction will be a huge road block. The fact your current employer doesn't mind your ticket is a huge red flag to me. He could hang this over your head like the sword of Damocles, pay you substandard wages, and there won't be much you can do.

Get a lawyer. Pay whatever it takes.

Ah, Audi... too smooth a ride to notice speed. You need to make the mental adjustment when getting back in your car.

Maybe not your license but you could very well lose your job.

And don't blame the wife... Saying I was "speeding" because I was "driving distracted" does NOT help your case.

Talk to your lawyer before you open you mouth on the record.... Please!!!

    KriegHund Thanks this.

Yes they can. If a judge hears your spill about how you were "distracted", he will permanently revoke all of your driving privileges. The cop should have arrested you.

Ok, so while she "distracts you while driving" she is the one "watching the speed"... Something is wrong here... LOL

Give all that to your lawyer and maybe they can plead it down to 10 over... Still speeding so it will be a black mark on your history but not reckless.

Note: LEO will have his Radar Detector against your wife's word and both will be called to testify if it goes that far. Go video record the location so you can verify where the location was and the speed there. But he could have clocked you before the area you stopped at too.

Which section is on the citation, 22348(a) or (b), 22349(a) or (b), or 23103(a)? If it is 22348(a), it is an infraction for speeding, as is 22349(a). If it is for 22348(b), or 22349(b). it is a misdemeanor, but you said you were not cited for 100 mph or faster, so I doubt you will see either of those on the citation.
If it is for 23103(a) then you were cited for reckless driving. You will have a mandatory court appearance, and will most likely upon conviction be booked into the County Jail Facility, and released same day.
If you are licensed in California, were not in a commercial vehicle, cited for either 22348(a), or 22349(a), you should be offered traffic school, and if so take it and finish it. It won't appear on your DMV, just don't get another for 2 years.

EDIT: Don't ask me how I know.
