Same here driver, I do the same, helps in many cases, and hey that 2 hr break after isn't a bad gig either, depending on your situation. .

So you are under a load running behind schedule due to circumstances beyond your control more than likely a shipper that was delayed in getting it loaded and you decided to violate hours of service and get called on it and you say they're the problem... I can say that you probably would have never been charged the $400 if you have been having to get download relayed for circumstances beyond your control

Point is it's a silly policy for an "independent contractor" to have to be subject to.

I was legal under DOT. and I suppose your right. I should have made the business decision to give up over 3K in revenue and start over out of the northeast with the scarcity of loads on short notice due to this policy.

Look. We all know you are the company cheerleader. It's ok to disagree with their policies without you getting butthurt.

Not being able to do an 8/2 split hurt my business. So I made the business decision to move on. Why does that bother you so much?

And my original response was to warn that IF you do in fact get caught you could be looking at not just a bad day but it could screw your week up.

Not sure why because I pointed out not being able to do one affected the way I do business and why I choose not to do business with them anymore is a point of contention with you.

What was the delay caused by? Was it as prior customer getting loaded what not?

4 hours in the door at previous shipper that was set up as a drop and hook on both ends...same day pickup and delivery. But the time I got it off I didn't have time to take a full 10 and make the next pickup but doing it within the 8 I could. And it was one of those customers where you couldn't be late....and my week was setup to get me home on a date that I needed to be home with a good revenue stream...so losing the load wasn't a viable option

Had gotten away with an 8/2 before so wasn't anticipating a shutdown.

To be honest if I got busted I figured I'd get that phone call and my hand slapped and told not to do it again. The whole easier to ask forgiveness than permission principle. The fact that they were unyielding on this despite the circumstances and my safety and driving record was clean just said to me that I was just a revenue source and nothing more....and I'm ok with that's how they choose to due businesses...I just don't have to be ok doing business that way...so I ended the business relationship.

Friday, scottied67 and Home_on_wheels Thank this.
