Not trying to attack you, just trying to get a better understanding of how things happened.

Delayed at shipper on Load A. Made delivery of load A. Recognized you didn't have time for a 10 hr break and pick up load B, so decided to split log. Where did you take your 8 he break? At consignee for load a, shipper b, truck stop? Did you move the truck at all during those 8 hours? Did you ICR tell you how they caught you "in the act"?

Again, not calling you out, I just like knowing how things tick. Usually unless a DOT violation occurs the dbl/icr is completely unaware. If the QC does pop a violation then the dbl/icr is automatically notified. If you are showing out of hours and set the brakes it will pop a violation on QHOS but not your QC. If you are in violation and edit it away (ie go back and change your pretrip to extend the 14) the violation will still show.

    Just curious.

8 hour was taken at the truckstop. Had I been able to take my break at the next shipper then there would have been no issue as I could have checked in during my "break"

After the 8 hour portion of my break I drove the 5 miles to the shipper got my load and drove a few hours to the Flying J on I 81...the last one before the NY line. No violations on the QC (and even without the QC I do know how to split log even if that's not the point here)

Took my 2 hour break which i took a shower and had breakfast....my QC then reset to the remaining drive time I had for that day.

Literally a few minutes after restarting I got a priority message...which in retrospect I should have ignored until I got to the receiver in Buffalo...but I played it through the speaker and it said to call in ASAP.

Pulled into the the rest area over the NY line where I was informed I was in violation. From what I was told is they were alerted right after I started driving after the 2 hour break....which makes sense to me due to the timing of the phone call.

So I was informed i needed to take a 10...which of course I didn't need....and they were sending a driver to grab my load to save delivery. Of course it was a company driver with no empty so not only was I charged the $400....I also was stuck in freight purgatory with no trailer and a blank slate of loads since I obviously wasn't going to get the next one on time either.

And yes I take full responsibility for my part in it and although I don't agree with how I got treated on that one I accept the consquences and I'm not looking for sympathy....but I felt it was important to respond in this thread because the question was posed about the 8/2 split and this is the potential consquence of doing the split.

Even found a part of a message from my ICA from that day after I had settled down a bit and had called to make sure in my anger that I had remained professional...because I do take that stuff seriously.

Also note the time remaining for my day...and this is several hours later.

If this is true it's sad and somewhat ruthless and I don't blame you a bit for ending the partnership. Its why for myself I always play by the rules to a tee. I know I'm just a number and I don't trust them any farther then I can throw em.
You could have delivered the load legally. Then sni could have a serious sit down conversation with you explaining the consequences. But no. They charge you 400 and take all the revenue for the load. Lol.smh. maybe there is more to the story I am missing. Holy cow.

No. That's pretty much it. I mean I realize you only have my word to go on but I have no reason to lie about it and I have no reason to bad mouth SNI in general...this just didn't sit right with me and althouch it wasn't the sole reason I ended my partnership with them...it did help get the ball rolling with another opportunity and made the decision a little easier.

Just one more thought on this. Maybe sni
Actually I believe every word you said. Read your posts three times just to make sure I was clear. Your not without blame, and you acknowledge that but ####. You also come across with no ill will. Just sharing your experience. Thanks.
Hitting you with a 400 dollar relay just to teach you a lesson is a little hard to stomach. Had a ic pass me today in Sc doing what had to be 85 mph. If we are so worried about safety maybe they should govern the lease trucks. Oh wait. That could hurt the bottom line on the amount of trucks leased.
They can also patch the Qualcomm not to allow a 8/2 split. Why haven't they done this if this is a issue.
Perhaps they should stop leasing trucks to everyone with a pulse and apply the same rules to everyone. I think the results would be much better.

SNI has no control over the programing for the HOS in the Qualcomm. It is programmed by Omnitracs and dictated by FMCSA. They have control over workflow but not HOS.

They do have control over the qualcomm programming as long as it is within FMCSA regulations. They cam make stricter rules but not more lenient.

I have a friend lives down the street who runs qualcomm, his doesn't have the keyboard just touchscreen and his logs don't log his movement until it's been 5 minutes he also can line 5 it once he gets to the shipper or receiver and drops the trailer and he's allowed to split birth it if he chooses. He also deadhead's home empty on line 5 with a trailer as long as he's taking a 34 or more once home.

He works for a smaller company (120 ish) trucks and he's always trying to recruit me. I won't go because he's dispatched he is a company driver.

He is home weekly but I don't want to be dispatched.

Anyway point is Schneider requested the updated parameters for the qualcomm to Cover their rears.

Besides as far as I can still find in the fmcsa it says log to the nears 1/4 hour or 15 minute increment.

I may be wrong but I can't find a fmcsa rule for the elog change.
