Today on I75n in tn I was passed by a flatbed with 2 flat tires (both right front on the trailer). I caught up to the guy going downhill and tried to get his attention but was unable to do so. I tried contacting him on the CB as well as flashing my lights at him after he passed me back. He was having some lane control issues. I called 911. My question is did I do the right thing for his safety and everyone else's? Or, did I do the wrong thing by betraying a fellow trucker? It is really irrelevant at this point, but I do feel guilty about it. I am just interested in how some of the more experienced drivers would have handled it.
Should I feel guilty for calling police?

Screw thinking you're betraying anyone, if you didn't call and the guy killed someone, then think of how you will feel about.

Ive done it before with 1 blowout, but not 2. I wouldn't worry about it, people call the police on drivers all the time.

Running on flat tires happen all the time over here in chicago. Container guys don't care, just as long as it can last till they hit the kiosk then it's the railyard problem

And that makes it right?
And if it was your wife, sister, kid in the lane next to this super trucker? -
I raise them on the cb but they already knew about it. So what, I'm not gna get in front of him and make him stop.
You're making it sound running a flat tire is as bad as running without hooking up the service air lineRERM, Lucy in the Sky, alghazi and 2 others Thank this. -
How many of us have seen truck and trailer tires come off the rim, roll on through and across the median or R.O.W. into oncoming traffic. A small car driving 50+ MPH colliding with truck tire rolling toward them at 40 MPH ... Bad things are going to happen.
And flat tires are worse (more likely to come off the rim) than blown tires especially when driven cluelessly at full highway speed.Bob Dobalina, MidWest_MacDaddy, NavigatorWife and 2 others Thank this. -
Two flats on the right front? As in the rims were on the road? And that goofball didn't stop? Guess he was in an all-fired hurry to roll that sucker!
OP, you absolutely did the right thing. Yes, I've rolled with ONE flat to a repair shop. Under an empty trailer or a very light load. No way on God's green Earth would I EVER do it on two, much less two on the same side (never mind the same axle!)
That there flatbedder is an insult to truckers (and doubly so to flatbedders!) and shouldn't be trusted with a disabled bloody tricycle!MidWest_MacDaddy, NavigatorWife, magoo68 and 4 others Thank this. -
Worst I seen is the tires get shred it. Had a Jb hunt lease operator running on a flat tire with his flasher on thinking he could make it. 3 lane highway and 3 wide of semi truck not passing because this guy. Of course he didn't have a cb but he knew about it.
