Nothing like a nice sized tire thumper in case the ratchet strap fails.

You bring up a valid point; most drivers are more likely to suffer from diabetes, heart disease or some other ailment due to poor eating, smoking, lack of exercise, etc., than they are ever likely to be robbed or have some other similar misfortune. THAT should be their real concern.Last edited: Oct 21, 2016
Blackshack46 Thanks this. -
How often does this sort of thing happen?
I hate to sound like a greenhorne but I'm. Greenhorne.
I'm going for my DOT physical next week. Barring any issues' I'll be starting CDL training right after that with Roehl.
Safety was always a concern when planning this part of my life. Im not deterred. But this thread kind of takes it to a whole new level. -
There was an article I read in a magazine that was about that. Thieves would pump some kind of gas (carbon monoxide possibly) in through a vent in the cab or sleeper. Then they'd open the doors, rob the driver and leave. Ironically, them unlocking and opening the doors would save the driver's life. Not that easy to do if the doors are tied together.texasbbqbest Thanks this.

Just predrill a hole, and put a nail (or for a larger dowel, a lag bolt) a couple of inches into the end of the hardwood dowel, then file and sand the dowel and nail down to a really sharp point, then varnish the end or something.
It is for pushing straps over loads, and you just happened to have it in the cab as the closest thing to grab officer! Who knew it would go so deep...
And then you can jam the end into the pavement afterwards to dull it a little.
But you tape a knife to a stick, and just possession will get you to the pokey in many places lol -
They can have the truck just let me have my pants boots phone and charger (gonna need keep my battery charged while waiting on a ride.)
Highway Sailor and texasbbqbest Thank this. -
Pepper spray was not around much in my day.
As far as weapons, Im a licensed carry now. Just a USMC pattern Colt Railgun with a variety of reliability based changes too much to list here. I would not want to go back out on the road anywhere without packing.
Got a Taylors 1892 pattern colt carbine planned to go with a 255 grain in super from Buffalo. Just have to work on it a little bit.
Laws and society today is much more... problematic than ever. Maybe I am the nut, but lived the cold war days where nuclear war was a possibility and frankly if we did that today, Society here will be lethal to anyone unable to protect themselves properly with arms. Everyone else would be sheep.
I hate to think about things like that. In trucking sometimes cash and other resources are in that cab or on me and it's a problem. Far better to have nothing at all except a few dollars and smokes (Menthol for Blacks and Marls or camels for whites) to pay the local scum to keep the vandals off the truck somewhere downtown. They actually do a good job because they make just enough money to stop being dope sick. -
I got to thank you guys for planting the idea of hiring the local scum errrr... underprivileged and oppressed and etc, when in a bad neighborhood.
I will have to be careful when I try it but I would never have even considered keeping some smokes or cola or maybe some food to use as barter goods. -
Better be careful with pepper spray. It's a no no to take to Canada and some formulas will get you in trouble in some states.
