What's so great about passing a bullwagon? I haul frac sand, run a lot of Texas, speed limit is 75 anywhere there is blacktop, and I pass them on a regular basis. Many of them can't keep their speed up on the hills when loaded. I'm actually starting to think a few of them may even be governed nowadays.

It ain't like it used to be, where every cow truck was a real straight-stacked largecar with her ears pinned back and rollin' coal. I see a lot of 'em now with EGR motors. Shoot, even DPF on some of 'em. So they're gonna be prone to all the problems of those motors, just like anyone else who has one. Sensors going bad, fuel derates, etc. It's no big deal to pass one of these trucks.

Now, of course, you still have the occasional old-school cow truck, and, if he's in a hurry, you probably won't get around him. I like running with these hands when I can find 'em. You won't meet a more professional trucker, in my opinion.

Now, someone is gonna say that the truck in this accident looks like one of these trucks. All I can say in response is that nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes. Look back thru the accident threads on here and see how many you find involving E-logged, mega fleet trucks, and how many involve old-school cow haulers.

Luckily I was on the northbound side trying to tell everyone to get off and get some pie at Rocksprings. It was a 15 mile back up when I went through there and people were asking on the radio how to get around it.

I also saw that rollover just out of Flagstaff, everyone's always in such a #### hurry to get home!

The best brakes in the world aren't gonna stop you on that stretch of highway if your doing up around 70 and your loaded. It's way too steep, and too long, and if your going that fast, your probably in top gear too. That section where he rekt, there is about seven miles where its 60 to 65, and incredibly steep, your doing maybe 35 going up, no one ever wrecks on the north bound side. There is an exit called "Bumble Bee". I always go by it thinking " Wonder who is gonna get stung today."

Like clock work, and these drop outbof Flagstaff a 18 mile hill 70 mph. Rule of thumb. It ain't how fast you can safely down a hill that matters, it's how fast you csn safely stop going down a hill that matters

My neighbor needed someone to make his Flag run while his regular driver had his truck in the shop.
Grossing 79,080 lbs up the hill is no fun!! I think I took 5years off the lifespan of my truck in this one run! lol
