That's what happens when people take jobs based on recommendations from strangers that never worked anyplace they recommend, eh?
Seems to be the new norm.
Can't wonder at the situation: it will self rectify.
Be a lot of people figuring out "there's no free lunch" gotta do your own homework if you want to find success.

I've been the Hot Shots Express the hazmat group of Jones Motor for 4 months. My personal experience they are not as organized as I think they should be. As an O/O its all its up to you to CYA no matter which company you lease on too. I'm still trying to figure out the best angle or strategy to maximize my time with the type of equipment I use. I'm making enough to support my family and cover my expenses and I'm out of central Florida.

Any updates on the Jones Motor experience?

First understand that the freight right now is down for everyone. Its the crappy economy. It has nothing to do with Trump or an election year. So leaving a carrier to go to another now wont matter. You will get fed a bunch of lies from a recruiter only to find yourself sitting once more.
Now onto Mercer. Unless you have a title to your truck you can show (even if it has a lien holder on it) keep walking. They take owner operators that have their own trucks. No pretend owner operators are accepted anymore. Its either you have full rights to the truck or you don't. Its that simple. If you cant show a title.......go play pretend owner operator somewhere else.
Far as Mercer goes they have their good points and bad. They do not take any "fleece purchase" trucks anymore from companies like Quality (aka Celedon). The ones they have currently were permitted to stay. Mercer plays a lot of favoritism games, lies, has a lot of lazy brokers that do nothing more than cut and past loads of load boards (not all of them do this....but most do). This will drive rates down for the driver. They hide loads and play a ton of games. This is why they advertise so much because they have such a high turn over. Its basically an owner operator mill.
HOWEVER....when compared to Landstar Mercer is much much better. -
Wow, i didn't know that. When did they stop letting the lease purchase guys come on? Man, i know at one time it seemed like they would take ANY owner op. weather they were FAKE owner ops or not. They were f'n desperate there for a while.
Another problem i saw going on there, was leasing all those trailers. I bet theres not many that made it and actually paid them off and kept the trailer. Huge turn over rate from what i saw.KenworthGuyNH Thanks this.
