I am wondering if any drivers here have experienced your tractor and empty trailer have been pushed into
another lane from the wind?

Not empty, but I have involuntarily changed lanes in Wyoming and Montana hauling camp shacks.

This is my all time favourite recovery. Driver picked the best option that time.

I recommend turning off the cruise control. Think like a ship captain navigating in stormy waters. Problem is we cannot change direction to help ourselves; we are at the mercy of the pavement direction.

YIKES!! Maybe I will rethink driving while there is a wind alert

Not in the other lane but over onto the shoulder... 128' long by 6' tall bridge beam(basically 2 fo your trailers), come around the corner of a hill and full force side gust of 40 mph near Livingston, MT. Moved me about 2 feet to the right. Well not really but the key is to not fight the drift, but I did end up 2 feet further to the right. The Pilot was telling me he could see the beam bow sideways, I said, I know I can feel it... LOL
SidewaysBentHalo, Dave_in_AZ, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
Do you drive any differently now in windy weather?
