For me it's not about getting sick. It's about grease and grime and dirt inside the cab. No, I don't wash my hands, but I do wear gloves and when done take them off and toss them behind the seat in the cab (daycab, so no side box) I also use a different pair of gloves (just cheap cloth ones in the summer and warmer ones in the winter) when I get out and open the trailer doors. That road dirt builds up, moreso in winter with all the salt on the road.
I've lucky and have a good slip seater that is as tidy as I am. Everyone wants to use our truck on the weekend as it's the cleanest truck in the lot.

Diesel is 20% Bio so you can use it in your skillet to lube your eggs.
