Well im tired of making little bit of money and working hard. So i decided i should look into getting my own truck and trailer. I have 50K saved up. My idea is too put 10k down on a truck and 10k down on the reefer. The problem is that im having hard time deciding what truck too buy im leaning more too the 2013 PETERBILT 587
13 Spd OD; ISX Cummins Engine Manufacturer 450 Horsepower with 400k miles and they asking 65k for the truck . Im going too be doing reefer coast too coast and i already know where too get my loads from . Just never bought a truck am specially with 400k miles any advice will be helpful . Toward the truck decision

An ISX with that mileage will need the EGR system cleaned out. If the oil changes were done religiously it may be okay on the inside, if they did extended oil changes then the cam maybe ready to go.
Check out Rawze dot com for lots of ISX info.

Ask to see maintenance records, repairs, parts replaced. Do an oil sample test, Maybe pay a local truck mechanic to go with you to inspect it thoroughly.

A few months ago, i am sure at present too, you could buy Volvo 2012 670 with exactly the same Cummins and transmission for 42-45 and mileage at Arrow Truck Sales. If you are a Volvo hater... then maybe Petes are more expensive. but still 65K seems pricey.

They suck I know. The need to be replaced every so often. I installed led bulbs in them with little transformers attached, they shine white now and do make the visibility different.
