Well, my cruise control hasn't been turned up yet, but the truck will not ding overspeed until 64. Which is great!... ish. Mainly because when I hit the pedal, the truck will go 64. So it's constantly dinging. And then the excessive overspeed... changing it to 68 sure looks great on paper, but when you're going 63, gaining an extra 5mph on a downhill when heavy is really. REALLY easy. I actually had the cruise set on 60 going down a grade with 45k and the truck was going 67-68 and constantly hitting excessive overspeed all on its own. I know, easy solution is to turn down the cruise control when going over every single hill....
I decided to test it today. Flooring it the entire time I was in 65+ zones. Which was about 310 miles out of 328. And got 23.55% overspeed. So, going to go back to cruising at 60 until they set it to 63.
What I really wonder though is when that's set, the truck will definitely speed up past 68 on grades. So, is the new way of driving going to be constantly adjusting the cruise control down on a grade?
The new overspeed...

I would just play it safe and drive 43 mph everywhere you go. Once your overspeed hits 24%, a nozzle comes out of the dash and releases cyanide gas. Don't risk it!

here I thought over speed was like 90

Schneider sounds awful...

It is.
Those of us that own our own trucks and can afford a little time off, should buddy up and go play everyone's favorite game... "How Quick Can You Get Fired from Schneider?"

You are not doing downgrades right.
There are certain hills where gravity quits pulling on the rig and you reach a neutral state which is around 132 or so. /sarc. Anything steeper than 5% will put you on a ternimal over speed until you hit around 160 plus or wreck, whichever happens first.
As far as the dinging, a pair of wirecutters take care of that once the speaker is isolated.Friday Thanks this. -
Cracking up at the megas I really don't know how they get drivers at all.
HotH2o and CasanovaCruiser Thank this. -
so they are increasing cruise speed by 3 mph but reducing excessive overspeed by 2mph?
wtf? -
Are you using IPM cruise, say 60+2 auto jakes? In other words it is supposed to hold your speed down the hill in cruise no more than 2 miles per hour over cruise set speed?
Is your truck automated transmission?
I know it is extra work but you may have to turn off cruise on the downhills and hold the speed back youself.
I have to answer yes to both the questions above on my new truck. Seems like tons more work touching cruise Cancel button, setting jakes ON, reaching over every few minutes to turn off lane control alert rumble strip sound coming through the speakers.Friday Thanks this. -
