A PM usually take a few hours. There must be something wrong with your truck if it takes days and you have to get a rental
-
I got it figured out. Peoplenet has a fleet manager website that I can log in under driver with ID and bring all my logs up on my smart phone. Yea me! Company should have given the drivers that info.
Ke6gwf and Trucker Prince Thank this. -
I've should have read the whole message sorry.

How do elogs even work? Never seen one. Do they auto email or couldn't you just grab a log book and draw a line and write of duty for the last 7 days?
-
Mine has a fax button. Most weigh stations have a fax machine and if they want to look hard at your logs will give you their fax number and have you fax it to them. What they are looking for is pretrips and fuel stops but also increasingly, EDITs the driver made then ask you why are you editing your logs so much.
Another thing they are looking for is load info, bol number, trailer number trip number is correct for that particular trip.
Like I explained in my previous post, I faxed myself my own 7 days logs then bobtailed over to my new company's yard and spent the night as the insurance at the old company was to expire at midnight and resume at new company at sometime later that day when my contract took affect. -
A lot of states have cops that are dot certified.
In utah. Highway Patrol does more inspections then the actual scale house. -
No they do not auto-Email. A device plugs into your trucks Port under your dash that connects to the ECM. The device can be hardwired to a "Terminal" in your truck or can Blue Tooth to your Electronic Device. On your Electronic Device you install an App to take the data and it show logs. There is a compliance regulation on this.
What the OP runs into is when they change trucks when their truck is in for an PM or Maintenance. If the secondary truck has an ELD installed they must run on that and print any logs in that truck for when they go back to their original truck to show the missing dates on the ELD in their Original truck. If no ELD on the secondary truck then they must run paper logs.
This will also affect those who change from one truck to another truck in an company and the second truck will be their new truck. They will have to print the last 7 days from the prior truck to keep with them in the new truck on the new ELD. After day 8 they can dispose of, but highly suggest as with any logs, to keep a copy if you are claiming MI&E. (commonly referred to incorrectly as Per Diem).

Silentshifter83 Thanks this. -
I thought if they switched trucks with elds. They simply log in. A mainframe keeps the records.
Like on the rand system. Sammons has a dedicated computer that shows all the trucks. -
It would depend on if the ELD is like a QC that when driver logs in their records are accessed. If it is like a BT model and it is on a small fleet or a singular truck then the "fleet" records may/may not be assessable. I would think that when the driver is given a "loaner" that would be the first thing they do is to make sure they can access their last 7 days or if not get printout's. I can see dispatch now telling that it is okay to roll in the "loaner" truck without their prior 7 days....
A lot of new ground going on with the ELD's and I have not read the 200+ pages so far.... But, I would think they might have forgotten about this aspect, correct me if I am wrong. I know they cover ELD's that are in for repair...
The 2018 will most definitely be a "growing" year for those not on ELD's.snowwy Thanks this.
