Hmm you get paid $1500 and you pay a driver $700 and you think drivers are greedy?

    Interesting

    I explained why. Don't be a child.

Edit: I also never called anyone greedy that I can recall.

I believe you did when you were talking about the 1.82/ 2.10 and that we should be ok with that and that if we couldn't eek out a livable profit from those rates there was something wrong. Yes I'm paraphrasing 8m to lazy to go back and look through the post.

I did say that if you weren't profitable in the 1.80-2.10 range your problem isn't the rates it's your costs. I stand by that.

You can, of course, have routes that pay better than this in this market but they have at least one, and probably several catches.

I don't recall speaking down to you and your defensive remark shows some lack of professionalism on your part..

I believe you said you keep $800 per load, 2 loads a week because you need it to pay bills during the slow season.

If that is what I read, it still does not make sense for a driver to loose money because of your need to survive for 10 months.

    that was my point

It's a retainer my customer pays me for services already rendered. That trucker is owed that money like I'm owed a FSC. This is the kind of magical thinking I'm talking about. You want everything you're owed PLUS what I'm owed. You want to have your cake for free, eat it, and keep it for later.

One more time... I do not set the rates. Trucks do. If I find a customer who pays more than what I can find a truck for... That's my money that I generated through being very good at transportation arrangement and being willing to eat an unbelievable amount of #### during the produce season. I pay as much as I need to pay to secure reasonable transport for my customers products. That's not me stealing money from anyone.

I told you to stop being a child because you were being a child. Your second post wasn't any better. I've put a lot of thought into understanding what the world looks like from your perspective... You clearly haven't done the same.

EDIT: My professionalism? That sure is a term I hear a lot from people who aren't very good at the real world. Ever hear that saying 'no combat unit ever passed inspection'? There's a reason I'm a much better freight guy than I am a salesman. It's the rough edges that give the whole thing authenticity and cover up the mediocre salesman part.

If somebody loses money running his business taking loads from the open market that's not my fault or concern. I'd say 'I want all my good carriers to continue to survive' but I'm honestly not worried about any of them. They all run solid smooth running operations that are quite profitable. It's the unprofitable guys who keep screwing stuff up and waking me up in the middle of the night. If a truck takes a load to Miami for 2 bucks a mile it's not my responsibility to make them whole. They need to learn their lesson and adjust their strategy. If they don't what follows is on them. For what it's worth I think going to FL/CO/MA for <2.50 a mile is a pretty good sign that you have no idea what you are doing at all.

If an OO doesn't like the rate that the broker is offering then don't haul it.

    I didn't write Murphy's Rules of Combat lol. I'm glad I didn't.

    They are hilarious though:

We definitely need Murphy's Rules of Trucking. Do those exist somewhere? I could use a good laugh.

EDIT: I just re-read them and I think Ethos might be offended for real now lol.
