I was just reading about a driver being put out of service in IL, and couldn't help but remember a completely different experience I had...
To start off, I get a lot of e-mails every day from friends, and also people I hardly know. For some reason , one particular joke about blonde speeding stuck with me for a long time. I almost forgot about it, then it flashed back, and saved me a big ticket. Anyway, here is the story.....
About this time last year, I had a load from Ontario to Texas. Saturday night, nice weather, empty roads, light load, 550HP under the hood...........and a 55MPH Illinois. I managed to keep it at around 60-62MPH, until I came to MM39 on Interstate 57. Going southbound, there is a loooong downhill, and if you let it go, at the bottom you are at 80-85MPH
So, empty road, no headlights anywhere, I just let the truck go....According to my trusty GPS, 84MPH in a 55 state....
Oh, remember that "no headlights anywhere" observation ?
WRONG !!! Not only headlights, but disco lights too !!! In my head, I already started figuring out how much will this cost me. 29 over, lots of my hard earned $$$$. Oh well, whats done is done.
So, I pull on the shoulder, State trooper pulls behind me, waits a bit, and starts walking towards me. I am still thinking about $$$$ and a ticket, when i hear him saying: " Good evening, driver. I was waiting for you all night."
Than, it flashed back to me....(remember me mentioning those e-mails at the beginning of the story?)...I put a smile (it was more of a grin) on my face, and without any hesitation, I fire right back :
"Sir, I got here as fast as I could......"
He looked at me, and started laughing, and I mean laughing. I swear that he had tears coming down his face. Somehow he just said :"Get the *** out of here, driver..." and continued laughing as he was going back to his car.
Needles to say, he didn't have to say it again.
Well, I guess I met a trooper with a sense of humor that night. Now, every time I go down that hill, I just start laughing, and think how I beat a ticket in the state of Illinois....
Cheers
How to beat a speeding ticket in Illinois...

I was always afraid of getting nailed there but only going the other way, Northbound. I'd always get a big run before I hit that hill.
If you were a little further South & in Pulaski County, you would have never gotten a break. -
sounds like you ran into "polar bear"

Thats Hillarious! Never Ever Speed on 57 south of 24
