I keep seeing this truck around, I am hoping he fixes the taillight one day. I have seen the lights hanging down and swinging, and today it is secured better, but still with zip ties.

Nothing beats duct tape, electrical tape, primary wire, baling wire, and zip ties....I carry all these in the tool box, they've gotten me out of a bind more than once, good stuff......

Saw a guy this week walk out of the TA with just a roll of gorilla tape. Wondering what he was trying to fix.

I've used gorilla tape to patch tarps and wrapping on loads.

Amen on the zip ties and baling wire.

I passed a tanker last winter. Rear mudflap on the trailer was a children's crazy carpet vice gripped to the bracket.

Wasn't it the marines that say, improvise and overcome? Anyway, the day may come that a man is glad he has all those things handy....It's amazing what some folks from poor & war-torn countries can do with basically nothing.
I saw a video once of some Haitian guys constructing a building. They had no cement snorkel truck, so they threw pails of concrete from one to another up the side of the building until the guy at the top dumped his on the 6th or so floor and then threw the pail back down to the ground, basically a vertical bucket brigade.

That's supposed to get one out of a bind, not be some sort of permanent fix.

Correct, that's why I said in my original post that they've gotten me out of a bind....

Folks that don't live & operate in and near big cities many times don't have immediate access to replacement parts, can't immediately afford them, or just don't have time at the moment. So, it's good to have these repair items and the know-how to make things work; however, the repair should be made "right" when time & money allow.....Somehow though, I'll admit, the temp repair sometimes gets forgotten about, like so many other things in life, because now it's working again.....
