Failed BP at DOT Physical

    I wasn't feeling well so I flunked BP at a physical. Can I just go to a different Dr and start my physical over. I am sure my BP is down now. Rest, no salt, before coffee, etc

    Should be able to go back to the same doctor and have your BP checked again.

    He told me to go see a Dr and have my own Dr certify my BP. I wan't to save the expense and just start over. Is my flunked physical on file now with DOT or does it die in the office if I do nothing.

    Then go to your own doctor. As long as your BP is under you'll be fine. It won't be on file with the DOT till you take it to them.

    You can go to a second Doc but have to give the same info on the forms to him as you gave to the first Doc. Everyone taking (passing or not) a DOT physical goes into the database. To see what you can do go to OOIDA and read this:

    What was your BP? There is a reason why they call hypertension the silent killer. I have had it for longer than I can remember, and mine is high, it was discovered during a routine physical, take 2 pills a day for it.
    I get a 1 years card, no biggie to me as I know it won't put me in the grave early. I am not sure why so many want to avoid taking care of it permanently.

    always make them take your BP when you are lying down.
    an easy 5 to 10 points off the reading

    I would suggest getting your BP taken.Many places will take your BP free and if its still high you will need to go to a doctor.
