Glad I'm with a private carrier....45 cpm and 35 bucks a day food money...Company paid Blue Cross.
All out and back loads..Paid the same empty, deadhead back every trip.
The only waiting I do is the hour it takes to pump the load off.....If for some reason I do get delayed I get hourly pay.
Heck,They paid me hourly for sitting in a backup one day for several hours...Straight up place to work!
If you can find a small outfit with good equipment,W-2 pay and dedicated customers it will be the best tanker gig.....I know they are rare to find.

Well, I decided to go with Foodliner out of Blair, Nebraska. I have read good and bad about them here, but that's par for the course. They have a good compensation package and I liked the terminal manager when I met him.
I also like the region I'll run in and I think I'll like the work, though that's not certain since I've only pulled flatbed before this. I know I won't miss tarping.
Maybe I'll start a new Foodliner thread once I get going there, we'll see. I appreciate everyone's input. -

That's the right attitude. Food grade you'll be smooth bore, aka no baffles since they can get in the way of the tank getting cleaned out properly. So you'll meet a new friend, his name is Sergio.
This is the actually the perfect time of year to start tanking. You'll get plenty of experience in before seeing Mother Nature's White Dessert Topping again. Good luck. -

Good luck to ya... as mentioned above it's a good time to start..I've been pulling tanker almost 6 years with 2 different companies...first ran log books and regional until I got burned out and the second was eligible and way more laid back. I do food grade for a company out of minnesota... I do OTE but it's my preference. Again good luck....

Seriously; I think you'll be really happy with tanking. The surge is only as difficult or "intimidating" as you make it; kinda like tarping and chaining. Uh oh, I didn't know I had fans lol! And actually, I have been thinking about starting a "tanker variety" thread as a sort of joke. I'm sure a lot of places tankers go don't want any pictures taken of their facilities though, and I wouldn't want to cause any trouble that way. But there are seriously a lot of different kinds of tanker configurations out there. I had noticed it some before, but now I'm really noticing it.
